Vice President Software Engineering - Group

Alpega Group is looking for a VP of Software Engineering for the group, reporting directly to the CEO, working across the product portfolio. This role will ideally be based in Barcelona (hybrid), with the option to be based across Europe.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Alpega is building the digital backbone of European transport. We operate a multi-product SaaS platform connecting shippers, carriers, and logistics providers across Europe. We have scale, recurring revenue, and ambition. Now we need to elevate engineering to the next level.

This role is about transforming how we build, ship, scale, and operate software. Engineering must become a true growth engine for the company.

Core Responsibilities

Platform Evolution: Modernize architecture toward cloud-native, scalable, API-first systems. Simplify complexity and raise technical standards and build a strong DevOps and automation backbone

Delivery Velocity: Increase speed and predictability of execution, establish clear engineering KPIs and accountability and improve quality, reliability, and deployment frequency

Engineering Culture: Build high-performing, product-focused engineering teams, raising the bar on architecture, code quality, and ownership. Developing and attracting top engineering talent.

Innovation Enablement: Embed AI-assisted development and automation, enable data-driven engineering and scalable experimentation as well to partner tightly with Product to deliver meaningful customer value

WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN YOU

15+ years in software engineering, with significant leadership experience

Have led large (100+), distributed SaaS engineering organizations

Have modernized complex systems and scaled platforms

Strong in cloud architecture, distributed systems, APIs, DevOps

Comfortable operating at both strategic and hands-on levels

Clear thinker, direct communicator, high standards
