THE ROLE

Join the Fleet Management Ecosystem team to architect and build high-scale infrastructure automation that powers Pure Storage’s cloud and on-premises platforms. As a foundational leader in this new team, you will redefine the developer experience by creating tools for image-based OS deployment, secure authentication, and large-scale orchestration. You will drive the evolution of our Desired State Management framework, ensuring thousands of machines across the global fleet remain synchronized, secure, and high-performing through tightly integrated, homegrown open-source solutions.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

•
Architect and develop core features of our high-scale configuration management system (Dominator), primarily using Go to manage distributed machine fleets and "Machine Domination" subclusters.

•
Lead the design of scalable infrastructure automation for Identity and Access Management (IAM), Image Distribution, and Virtual Machine Management, ensuring seamless integration across diverse environments.

•
Eliminate system bottlenecks by devising robust solutions for performance optimization, automated provisioning, and complex deployment workflows in a massive-scale distributed ecosystem.

•
Champion engineering excellence by conducting deep-dive code reviews, implementing comprehensive testing strategies, and maintaining a high-quality, open-source-first codebase.

•
Bridge the gap between vision and execution by collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate image deployment frameworks that keep fleet governance synchronized and secure.

WHAT YOU BRING

•
Expert-level proficiency in Go (the core language for 98% of our codebase) and a deep background in systems programming with languages like Rust, Shell, or C/C++.

•
Extensive experience in Platform Engineering, specifically building or managing large-scale distributed systems and VM management platforms (e.g., OpenStack or similar).

•
Technical mastery of Linux systems and a proven track record of designing homegrown automation for configuration management and fleet-wide image deployment.

•
Advanced knowledge of container orchestration (Kubernetes) and modern CI/CD pipelines, with the ability to navigate and contribute effectively to complex open-source projects.

•
Strategic leadership skills developed over a significant career in hardware/software infrastructure, with the ability to build and mentor a high-performing engineering culture.

•
We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Bengaluru office in compliance with Pure’s policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
