Supply Chain Operations is a global business unit within IKEA Supply and with its more than 800 co-workers it connects our customers with IKEA products in a simple, affordable, and sustainable way. We deliver excellent transport and logistic solutions today, tomorrow and over time by optimising replenishment solutions, managing the goods flow, sourcing and developing transport and logistics capacities and leading and securing supply quality.

In Category Distribution, we are responsible for securing handling & storing capacities for IKEA products. We do this by establishing and managing relationships with distribution centers around the world. We work closely with Service Providers, Retailers, Wholesaler, and other stakeholders across the IKEA value chain.

In Supply Chain Operations we lead, plan, and execute the supply of IKEA products between suppliers and retailers. We do this by 1) leading tactical and operational planning; 2) securing optimal replenishment; 3) sourcing and developing transport and logistics capacities; and 4) managing and execution of goods flow.

We are looking for suitable candidates for the role of Technical Manager, based at the IKEA Distribution Center in Port Klang, Malaysia.

As a Technical Manager in our Distribution Port Klang, you lead across all technical disciplines in the DC, orchestrating building infrastructure, automation systems, digital/IT topics and contractor relationships to create an integrated approach to DC reliability. This role balances long-term planning with operational excellence to ensure all systems work harmoniously to support operations.

Your key assignments are:

• Lead and develop all technical teams (maintenance, automation, IT and facility)
• Ensure the building and ASRS (Automated Storage & Retrieval System) are in optimal condition at all times.
• Establish team action plan, budgets, and performance metrics
• Align maintenance activities and facility improvements with business requirements, developing yearly Facility & Maintenance Plan.
• Oversee critical equipment lifecycle planning and technology upgrade initiatives
• Review and approve contractor agreements and secure implementation at agreed service level.
• Develop emergency response protocols and business continuity plans
• Report key performance indicators to Distribution Unit Manager
• Drive continuous improvement and cost optimization across all technical areas, including automation (ASRS) and technical innovation.
• Collaborate with operations leadership on capacity planning and future needs

You have:

• Technical university education and at least previous 10 years’ experience in a similar role
• Previous experience in leading complex projects, involving cross-functional teams; preference for PPS methodology in logistics or industrial environment.
• Proven experience in managing operational and investment budgets.
• Previous experience in managing contractors, including contract negotiations and performance follow up.

You possess strong technical knowledge in:

• Warehouse Automation Systems – act as subject expert of ASRS system, controls, integration points, both for hardware and software (WCS, MFC)
• Facility Infrastructure and Building Systems – extensive knowledge of industrial building management, including HVAC, electrical distribution, fire protection, BMS, PV and structural systems
• Maintenance Management Methodologies – expertise in preventive/predictive programs, maintenance principles, planning, optimization of usage etc.
• WMS/WCS – understanding of software integration points with automation equipment
• IT Infrastructure – understanding of warehouse IT infrastructure and network.
• Team Development - understanding of technical skill development, knowledge transfer, technical career paths.
