We are seeking an experienced Technical Business Analyst (Contractor) to support the MLH project, with a specific focus on AI‑driven research, analysis, and efficiency improvements across the end‑to‑end process. This role sits within a cross‑functional R&D effort aimed at identifying and embedding opportunities where modern AI techniques can streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and accelerate operational cycles within the MLH domain.

The role requires strong analytical capability, comfort working with technical concepts, and the ability to break down business processes at a granular level. While not a development role, the position demands a blend of technical literacy, structured problem‑solving, and hands‑on process analysis.

The contractor will work closely with the MLH Product Lead, SMEs, and the broader delivery organisation to assess current workflows, evaluate AI applicability, articulate requirements, and support experimentation cycles.

 

Key Responsibilities

AI‑focused process analysis & efficiency discovery

• Analyse current MLH workflows (loan agency module and modelling processes) to identify efficiency gaps, bottlenecks, and opportunities for AI‑driven improvement.
• Map end‑to‑end process flows and surface areas where automation, classification, extraction, summarisation, or optimisation may apply.

Technical business analysis & requirements modelling

• Translate process findings into structured problem statements and actionable technical requirements for AI prototypes or experiments.
• Partner with architecture/engineering to validate feasibility and constraints of proposed solutions.

R&D collaboration & experimentation support

• Work as part of an AI R&D initiative, supporting hypothesis testing, PoC execution, data requirements identification, and evaluation of results.
• Document findings, effectiveness, limitations, and next‑step recommendations.

Stakeholder engagement

• Engage with SMEs across functions to validate process understanding and consolidate requirements.
• Provide clear and concise updates on progress, findings, risks, and decision points.

Operational readiness & integration thinking

• Ensure proposed AI solutions consider downstream impacts across data, controls, governance, and operational workflows.
• Support preparation for hand‑off into delivery teams if/when solutions move beyond R&D phase.

General programme alignment

• Work closely with MLH leadership to maintain transparency, prioritise R&D tasks, and ensure work remains aligned with programme objectives.

• Proven experience as a Technical Business Analyst or Technical BA/Process Analyst within financial services, technology, or complex operational environments.
• Strong background in process mapping, root‑cause analysis, structured problem decomposition, and working with technical delivery teams.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business challenges into clear requirements and hypotheses suitable for AI/automation exploration.
• Comfort engaging with technical stakeholders, interpreting architecture/solution constraints, and assessing feasibility.
• Excellent communication skills, particularly in synthesising findings for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Strong analytical mindset with curiosity and the ability to explore emerging technology capabilities.

Preferred

• Experience working in or adjacent to AI, machine learning, automation, or advanced analytics initiatives.
• Prior involvement in R&D‑style work, experimentation cycles, or PoC-driven projects.
• Familiarity with operational workflows in loan servicing, loan administration, or related domains.
