Team Lead - GameFabric (Multiplayer Servers) (m/f/x)

Einleitung:
You will lead the engineering team behind GameFabric's Multiplayer Servers platform - the core product that game studios from indie to AAA rely on to orchestrate, scale, and operate their multiplayer game server fleets in production.
This is a leadership role with a strong technical foundation. You own your team's delivery, drive technical decisions together with your senior engineers, and translate product priorities into a plan the team can execute against with confidence.

About the role:
GameFabric is a developer-first multiplayer server orchestration platform built on Agones, Kubernetes, and a hybrid bare-metal-plus-cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud and BYOC). The platform is API-first with a dedicated Terraform provider, and is used in production by game studios shipping titles at scale.
You will report directly to the Head of B2B, who owns GameFabric end-to-end - including its technical direction - and reports to the CTO. This means a short path between business goals, product priorities, and engineering execution, and a leadership counterpart who is deeply technical and engages directly on architecture and trade-offs.
You will lead a team of five experienced engineers (three backend, two frontend) and collaborate closely with peer teams across SRE, SteelShield, Customer Success, and Product.

Your mission:
Lead and develop a team of experienced engineers - running healthy manager fundamentals (1:1 cadence, feedback, growth conversations) and creating an environment of clear expectations and accountability
Own delivery for your team end-to-end: convert priorities into an executable plan, manage scope and dependencies, surface risks early, and keep delivery predictable
Translate OKRs and business priorities into a clear technical plan for your team. For example, turning an objective like "increase release velocity and confidence" into concrete initiatives across testing strategy, release validation, and delivery process
Drive technical decisions together with your senior engineers, and act as a credible technical counterpart in design discussions
Ensure technical feasibility, dependencies, and scope are validated before sprint commitment, so that planning is reliable and execution is predictable
Drive alignment with Product, SRE, SteelShield, and Customer Success - proactively identifying and resolving cross-team dependencies before they block delivery
Establish and uphold engineering standards: definition of ready, release readiness, code review
Communicate delivery status, risks, and trade-offs clearly to senior leadership and across teams

Your profile:
Experience leading engineering teams in a complex technical environment
Solid working knowledge of distributed systems and modern cloud-native infrastructure (Kubernetes-based environments, container orchestration), with enough technical fluency to engage substantively with senior engineers - not as a coder, but as a credible technical peer
Track record of converting product input into structured engineering work, and of owning that translation rather than waiting for fully specified requirements
Demonstrated ability to own delivery outcomes end-to-end, including holding the line on readiness criteria and surfacing technical risks early
Experience translating priorities and objectives into team plans and managing them through to delivery
Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences, and the ability to create clarity in ambiguous situations - who owns what, what decisions are needed, and by when

Nice to have:
Experience with Go (our primary backend language)
Background in multiplayer, real-time, or other latency-sensitive systems - we are explicitly open to candidates from outside the games industry, so this is a plus rather than a requirement
Experience working closely with SRE or platform teams
Experience with API-first products and developer tooling
