Job Description

The System Engineer will handle system administration and management tasks to support the IT infrastructure needs of the company and its clients. This includes overseeing various operating systems, hardware, and software platforms, ensuring system reliability, and maintaining ITIL V4 compliance

• System Administration: Manage and maintain systems across multiple platforms like Windows Server, Linux (Redhat, Suse, Ubuntu), Solaris, IBM AIX, Oracle Linux, etc.
• Software & Hardware Management: Oversee systems and components such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Azure AD, clustering tools, file servers, SAN/NAS storage, and virtualization platforms.
• Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Continuously check development, staging, production, and disaster recovery environments for performance issues and resolve system faults proactively.
• Transition Management: Support transition of responsibilities from current vendors or internal teams.
• Compliance & Security: Ensure systems meet legal and internal compliance standards, including regular patching and security updates.
• Documentation: Create and maintain SOPs, system configurations, and generate reports on performance, security, and incidents.
• Automation: Implement tools to automate processes like provisioning, monitoring, and issue resolution for increased efficiency.
• User Support: Manage privileged access and provide user support with clear communication.
• Backup: Work with backup teams to ensure backup processes, scripts, and restore procedures are in place and tested.
• Access Control: Administer access rights and ensure adherence to access policies.
• System Availability: Use enterprise monitoring tools to track and ensure system uptime and hardware maintenance.
• Disaster Recovery: Participate in planning, testing, and executing disaster recovery strategies.
• Configuration Management: Keep hardware/software configurations up to date and compliant.
• Performance Tuning: Monitor system performance, adjust configurations, and maintain performance metrics.
• Problem & Change Management: Facilitate issue resolution, perform impact analysis, manage change requests, and ensure smooth implementation of changes.
• Audit Compliance: Assist with audits by providing necessary data and addressing findings.
• Capacity Planning: Monitor usage and help forecast future system needs.
• Security Oversight: Define and enforce security policies, conduct audits, and assist with investigations.
• Maintenance Coordination: Liaise with vendors for hardware/software support and recommend necessary upgrades.
• Asset Lifecycle Management: Handle secure removal and relocation of equipment during decommissioning.
• Reporting: Deliver detailed reports covering incidents, security, performance, availability, and changes. .


Requirements:
• Education: Diploma or Bachelor's in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
• Experience: At least 3 years in a similar role.
• Technical Proficiency: Expertise in operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix), system tools (AD, DNS, DHCP), virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), and storage (SAN/NAS).
• Certifications: Relevant credentials like VCP, MCSE, RHCE, etc.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities. Team player.
• ITIL: Certification and working knowledge required.
• Other:
• Flexibility to work in shifts, including nights and holidays.
• Available for on-call duties and off-hours maintenance.
• Must pass background checks and follow security protocols.
