Solutions Engineer – Linux Systems & Maritime Infrastructure Integration

Job Purpose:

As a Solution Engineer specializing in Linux systems, you will design, integrate, and support Linux-based maritime solutions. You will work independently on well-defined tasks and contribute to system architecture, cybersecurity, and operational reliability within maritime environments.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Design, deploy, and support Linux-based systems (Debian-derived) in shipboard and shore environments.

Implement and maintain Linux networking (interfaces, VLANs, routing, iptables/nftables).

Develop automation scripts using Bash and Python to improve reliability and operational efficiency.

Collaborate with architecture and senior engineering teams to align solutions with maritime and regulatory requirements.

Support integration across maritime IT/OT systems and networking infrastructure.

Apply cybersecurity best practices relevant to maritime operations.

Participate in system testing, troubleshooting, and deployments.

Create and maintain technical documentation and operational guides.

Provide technical support and knowledge transfer to operations and support teams.

Qualifications:

3+ years of experience as a Linux Systems Engineer or in systems integration.

Strong hands-on experience with Debian or Debian-based Linux distributions.

Practical experience with Linux networking, firewalling, and KVM virtualization.

Familiarity with networking and security infrastructure (Fortinet preferred).

Experience with scripting and automation.

Good communication and documentation skills.

Experience in maritime or mission-critical environments is an advantage..
