Software Engineer / Network Architect
Job Summary
Gluware is hiring a Network Engineer who has shifted into — or is actively moving toward — Software Engineering. This full-time position reports to the Sr. Director of Solutions Engineering and joins a team of Network and Software Engineers. You'll collaborate to deliver automation solutions to Gluware's enterprise customers using our market-leading platform, while staying ahead of the curve on AI-assisted workflows and tooling.

Responsibilities
Build and test supported vendor reference architectures in Gluware's physical and virtual lab environments
Document working reference architecture implementations used in production enterprise networks
Translate vendor architectures into the Gluware orchestration engine via dynamic data modeling
Contribute code and fixes to the Gluware platform to support enterprise customer automation needs
Collaborate with Gluware Software Architects and Engineering on automation supporting reference architectures and vendor platforms
Partner with Pre-Sales and Sales teams, advising on automation approaches for enterprise, campus, and cloud architectures
Stay current on major network and cloud vendor architectures, products, and evolving AI/ML capabilities relevant to network automation
Leverage AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, LLM-assisted scripting) to accelerate development, code review, documentation, and troubleshooting workflows
Execute on directed strategy and solve challenges efficiently and effectively
Qualifications
Master’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or equivalent hands-on experience
2–3 years of hands-on network engineering experience (design, implementation, or operations)
Strong scripting experience in JavaScript and/or Python
Integration experience between software platforms using REST APIs
Demonstrated use of AI coding assistants or LLM-based tooling in day-to-day engineering work
Strong interpersonal and communication skills — comfortable bridging network engineering and software teams
Highly motivated, able to grasp complex concepts and learn quickly
Proven performance in a dynamic, fast-growing organization
Software development experience a plus
Nice to Have
CCIE-level certification or advanced knowledge of multiple network vendor and cloud products
Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure deployment (AWS, Azure, GCP, or equivalent)
12+ years in network engineering, network design, or network equipment design & development
5+ years working with infrastructure in any capacity
Hands-on implementation experience with multivendor routers/switches and technologies such as:
Data center architectures (EVPN/VXLAN, ERB, CRB)
Campus designs (Cisco Campus Fabric/SDA)
SD-WAN (Cisco/Viptela, Versa, VeloCloud, Silver Peak)
Security products
Experience with AI/ML-assisted network operations, AIOps platforms, or network observability tooling
A builder mentality — side projects, home lab, personal automation or hardware projects are a genuine plus
