Responsibilities

We are seeking a detail-oriented Software Engineer in Test, Product & Engineering, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in software quality engineering or test automation, to join our growing AI Apps & Marketplace Engineering team. In this role, you will develop, implement, and execute robust testing strategies for enterprise-grade AI Apps built using Workato's AI Apps Framework and Packaged Genies built using Workato's Agent Studio. You will ensure that AI Apps and Genies behave reliably, execute workflows consistently, and deliver high-quality outcomes across diverse business scenarios. Working closely with product and engineering teams, you will contribute to testing frameworks, automation suites, and validation processes that support the overall quality and evolution of Workato's AI-driven ecosystem.

In this role, you will also be responsible to:

Developing and maintaining automated test suites for AI Apps, Genie Skills, workflows, and orchestrations.

•
Executing functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end tests to validate AI App and Genie behavior across different systems and business processes.

•
Translating requirements into test cases and test plans for AI Apps and Packaged Genies, working closely with senior engineers on test strategy decisions.

•
Collaborating with engineering, product, and solution teams to ensure test coverage aligns with established quality standards.

•
Creating clear documentation for test scenarios, workflows, and validation approaches.

•
Troubleshooting issues, identifying root causes, and partnering with engineering to drive timely resolutions.

•
Validating API interactions, authentication flows, and orchestration logic across multi-step, cross-system workflows.

•
Proactively identifying gaps in test coverage and contributing ideas to improve testing practices.

Requirements

Qualifications / Experience / Technical Skills

•
2+ years of experience in software testing, test automation, or quality engineering.

•
Hands-on proficiency in test automation using scripting or programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Ruby, with a willingness to learn new tools as needed.

•
Adaptability to modern testing approaches—leveraging AI-assisted tools to accelerate test creation and effectively evaluate test results.

•
Solid understanding of testing fundamentals (test design, functional testing, integration testing, regression testing, workflow testing).

•
Experience testing APIs, REST endpoints, and authentication flows (OAuth, API tokens).

•
Ability to design and execute test scenarios for complex workflows and multi-step business processes.

•
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify edge cases, gaps, and potential breakdown points.

•
Good debugging and defect isolation skills with attention to detail.

•
Strong communication and collaboration skills.

•
Ownership mindset and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

•
Genuine interest in testing AI agents, workflow orchestration, and automation ecosystems.
