Senior Software Engineer - Logs- Query

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Logs-Query team at Datadog. The Logs-Query team is responsible for developing advanced log analytics capabilities, allowing our users to gain deep insights from their logs at scale. As part of the Logs-Backend organization, we focus on building powerful, cost-effective query and analytics solutions for
logs that empower DevOps, Engineers, Security Analysts, and Operations Analysts.

In this role, you will work with a talented team of engineers to help design, build, and scale our log query platform, ensuring it meets the needs of both power users and casual users. You will collaborate closely with other teams across Datadog, developing sophisticated features that enable our customers to perform real-time, high-performance analytics at a large scale.

What You’ll Do:

• Build Advanced Query Capabilities: Design and implement sophisticated, high-performance log query features that enable users to get insights from their logs in real time.

• Develop Scalable and Cost-Effective Solutions: Contribute to building systems that are not only scalable and fast but also cost-efficient for large-scale log storage and querying.

• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers and Event-Platform, to integrate shared capabilities and ensure seamless product experiences.

• Work with Complex Data Systems: Design and build solutions to query logs from Husky (our storage backend), ensuring high availability and reliability in all systems.

• Ensure High-Quality Code: Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from design to deployment, ensuring the delivery of robust and efficient code.

• Mentor and Collaborate: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, and collaborate with team members to help solve complex technical problems.

Who You Are:

• You have experience building high-performance, distributed systems and enjoy the challenge of scaling solutions to meet the needs of a growing user base.

• You are passionate about creating products that make a tangible impact on users, particularly in the realm of log analytics and observability.

• You are experienced in developing query and analytics features.

• You have strong experience with distributed systems, and a desire to dive deep into the challenges associated with querying large datasets.

• You are a team player, able to collaborate with different teams and stakeholders to achieve the best results.

• You’re excited about leveraging AI tools to enhance how you code, solve problems, and build – or eager to learn how

Bonus Points:

•

• Familiarity with Java, Go or Trino.

• Experience with large-scale analytics products or data platforms.

• Experience with real-time log analytics and query optimization.
