Description

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help shape and scale the industry-leading technical documentation platform for Adyen’s customers and partners. This is a strategic role within our Developer Experience (DevX) group. Your influence will stretch from internal engineering and product teams to the external developers building on our platform every day.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in co-leading Adyen’s global Developer Experience strategy by partnering deeply with engineers, product teams, technical writers, and external developers to drive meaningful improvements to our documentation platform. Your goal is to ensure that developers have seamless, powerful, and accurate resources for building on Adyen – and that their feedback directly influences our roadmap.

You’ll contribute and materialize a documentation strategy, ensuring developers’ feedback on documentation is heard, understood, and acted upon. At the same time, you’ll help shape the technical direction of our documentation efforts. The focus is on driving real product impact through technical insight, empathy for developers, and strong internal alignment. Automation is a key aspect of this role, and experience with AI in documentation is a significant plus.

Collaborate on Adyen’s Developer Experience strategy and execution for documentation

• Work with other engineers, product designers, and product managers to understand developer needs and contribute to feature shaping, ensuring technical considerations are included.

• Support the Tech Lead and Product Manager in the strategic direction and execution of documentation projects.

What You’ll Do

Build an industry-leading documentation platform

• Champion the end-to-end developer journey across Adyen’s APIs and tooling with a relentless focus on clarity, accuracy, and ease of use, increasing adoption and reducing friction.

• Use feedback loops with developers (customers, partners, and the broader ecosystem) to identify pain points and surface actionable insights for technical improvements.

• Define the technological direction of the documentation platform, propose future-proof technologies, and foster an environment of innovation within the field.

Co-lead Adyen’s Developer Experience strategy and execution for documentation

• Collaborate with other engineers, product designers, and product managers to prioritize and shape features based on real developer needs, ensuring technical requirements are considered from the outset.

• Collaborate closely with the Tech Lead and Product Manager, partnering on the strategic direction and execution of documentation projects.

Be a trusted technical counterpart to customers and partners regarding Adyen’s documentation

• Build trusted relationships with high-impact developers in our customer and partner ecosystem, understanding their needs and translating them into technical improvements to our documentation.

• Contribute to early adopter programs, feedback sessions, leverage friction logs, and engage in strategic technical conversations that shape the documentation platform.

Scale the technical aspects of the developer documentation function

• Materialize the technical strategy for our documentation. Set direction, mentor contributors, and ensure alignment with the broader DevX strategy.

• Drive automation in documentation processes and explore and implement AI-powered documentation solutions.

• Build strong cross-functional relationships and get buy-in from stakeholders with diverse backgrounds in adjacent teams.

Who You Are

• You have deep empathy for developers and a strong technical foundation - you’ve built or supported APIs, SDKs, dev tools, integrations, and/or complex products.

• You’re a strong communicator, able to translate technical information into a clear and concise message- and vice versa. You are comfortable representing technical points of view in front of internal and external technical audiences.

• You’ve worked closely with product and engineering teams and know how to advocate for user needs in a way that drives meaningful technical improvements. You thrive in cross-functional environments - partnering across engineering, product, implementation, and commercial teams.

• You understand how high-quality integrations and community engagement reinforce one another.

What You Need to Succeed

• Track Record: 8+ years of experience in a technical role as part of an engineering and product team.

• Technical Skills: Deep understanding of APIs, SDKs, and developer tools. Experience with docs-as-code principles and related tooling.

• Preferred experience with Java, Javascript/Typescript, and Kubernetes..

• Strategic Thinking: Strong ability to design and execute technical strategies. Fast learner with a passion for technology and a launch-iterate mindset.

• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical topics. Full professional proficiency in English.

• Product Collaboration: Proven experience working closely with product and engineering to influence roadmaps and deliver features.

• Team-first Approach: Collaborative, low-ego individual who prioritizes the growth and success of the team and products.

• Automation Mindset: Strong drive to automate processes and leverage technology to improve efficiency and quality.

• AI Experience: Familiarity with or a strong interest in exploring and implementing AI solutions.

Other Job Details

• We have a hybrid workplace and value in-person collaboration; this is not a remote-only role.

• Some domestic and international travel is required (mostly US and Europe).
