Job Description
About the job
At Sofico, we build the Miles Enterprise Suite, software that supports mid- and back-office processes for automotive finance, leasing, fleet, and mobility management. As we continue to scale our cloud-first and microservices-driven platform, we are looking for a Senior PostgreSQL DevOps Engineer with Kubernetes experience to strengthen the reliability, performance, and security of our operational datastores (ODS).
In this role, you will take end-to-end ownership of PostgreSQL deployments that power critical product capabilities. You will work closely with platform engineers, developers, architects, IT, and security to deliver resilient database foundations, enable self-service for teams, and continuously modernize our operational setup.
Your responsibilities
• Own and evolve Sofico’s PostgreSQL deployments (self-managed on Kubernetes and managed cloud services), with a strong focus on availability, performance, security, and automation.
• Design and operate HA/DR patterns: replication, failover, backup/restore, PITR, disaster recovery testing, and capacity planning.
• Build and maintain Kubernetes-based database capabilities (PostgreSQL Operators, Helm/Kustomize-based deployments), including upgrade strategies and runbooks.
• Implement IaC and platform automation using a GitOps workflow (FluxCD).
• Setup monitoring and observability for database services (Prometheus, Grafana, logging).
• Drive proactive performance engineering: query tuning, configuration hardening, etc.
• Partner with product teams on schema evolution, migrations, and reliability improvements.
• Document decisions (ADRs) and coach teams on best practices.
Your Profile
• Strong hands-on experience operating PostgreSQL in production at scale.
• Solid understanding of PostgreSQL internals and operations: autovacuum, WAL, replication, connection pooling, and backup tooling.
• Proven experience with Kubernetes in production and familiarity with database operations on K8s (operators, stateful workloads, storage classes, network policies).
Experience with CloudNativePG is a plus.
• Experience with Azure, including managed PostgreSQL, is a plus.
• Practical experience with GitOps workflows (FluxCD, Helm, Kustomize).
• Knowledge of security best practices: secrets management, encryption in transit/at rest, auditing, and compliance-driven controls.
• Clear communicator who can explain trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and collaborate across teams.
What we offer you
• Competitive salary package
• Company car with fuel card/ charging card
• Meal vouchers
• Group and hospitalization insurance
• Additional benefits: bike leasing, flexible working hours, work from home up to 2 days per week
Join an international, multicultural company with more than 35 years of experience, which doubles in size every 5 years.
