Senior Platform Engineer - Metadata Platform

The Team:

The Metadata Platform team builds and operates the central nervous system for our company's data. Our platform provides the foundational services that manage and serve critical metadata to our core products, running 24/7 across multiple cloud providers and regions worldwide. The sheer scale of our environment presents unique engineering challenges—from ensuring global data consistency and low-latency access to optimizing our storage and query systems for future growth.

The Role:

You'll be part of a team based in Munich, operating across Europe, and will play a key role in designing and operating the growing data services infrastructure that powers our cloud products. You will collaborate closely with development and cloud platform teams to build and maintain robust, scalable data solutions. As our company is growing rapidly, this offers unique challenges and a great experience for a seasoned Senior Engineer.

While you have a strong foundation in various data persistence and messaging technologies, your expertise lies in designing and operating reliable database, caching, or messaging systems at scale. You will provide advice to other teams on best practices, help junior engineers level up their expertise, and remain hands-on to support the team where needed.

The work you’ll do:

• Design, build, and operate core data services (e.g., databases,messaging systems, general storage services) at scale, leveraging your expertise in cloud-native technologies like Kubernetes.

• Develop and enhance our observability stack, giving development teams clear insights into the performance and consumption of their data services.

• Collaborate with development teams to define their requirements and deliver robust, effective data solutions that meet their needs in a cost effective way.

• Own and execute key technical projects that improve the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our data infrastructure.

The qualifications you need:

• 6+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, and operating distributed data systems at scale (e.g., databases, messaging systems, Object Storage).

• Essential hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies, particularly build, test and deployment through IaC(e. g terraform, cross plane)

• Deep understanding of system performance tuning, observability, and reliability engineering (SRE) principles for high-throughput systems.

• Solid programming or scripting skills for automation and infrastructure management (e.g., Python, Go, Bash).

• Proficiency with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset and a passion for mentoring.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
