Job Description
We are looking for a passionate Software Engineer with focus on Database Reliability to join our team of Software and DevOps Engineers and help us proactively avoid and reactively solve  any potentially upcoming problems or limitations of databases within our distributed cloud platform used by the whole Engineering organisation. This role is for you if you are keen on problem solving and driving optimisations of large scale core cloud platform components. You will be working on challenging problems in a fast growing microservice-based architecture system and have a real impact on the R&D organisation. You will join the Reliability & Platform Engineering org - a group of talented engineers working remotely or in Krakow and Berlin offices.

What you will do:

• Design, develop, test and deploy various critical components of our platform

• Influence the reliability across the whole engineering organisation by creating new and optimising existing standards, tools and technologies

• Design, develop and introduce solutions to improve platform resiliency, reliability and observability to minimize customer-facing downtime

• Document and advocate standards, best practices, and policies

• Protect and ensure the consistency of customer data and scale up resources

• Cooperate with other teams from various locations including Berlin, Kraków and San Francisco in different cycles of development

Qualifications
• Experience in working with SQL language and relational databases
• Experience in Java/Go/Python
• Great analytical skills
• Experience in designing and building RESTful APIs
• Familiarity with Linux / Unix shell scripting
• Familiarity with backward compatible techniques for data migrations
• Familiarity with modern distributed systems architectures and patterns
• Great communication skills with good understanding of English, both verbal and written

Nice to have:

• Experience in working with NoSQL databases
• Familiarity with Amazon AWS
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform
• Familiarity with full-text search engines
