About the Role

As a Senior Jira Platform Engineer, you’ll own and evolve an enterprise Atlassian ecosystem—architecting a scalable, secure, and automated Jira/Confluence/Bitbucket platform that enables global engineering and business teams to deliver efficiently, collaborate seamlessly, and meet strict governance expectations in a highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable platform architecture and governance for Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, and Bitbucket across Cloud and Data Center environments

• Engineer and optimize workflows, schemes, custom fields, permissions, and automation rules to translate complex business and regulatory requirements into streamlined delivery processes

• Monitor and improve system performance, reliability, and availability by diagnosing bottlenecks, tuning configurations, and proactively addressing platform health risks

• Lead lifecycle management initiatives including migrations, upgrades, and strategic evaluation/implementation of Marketplace apps

• Develop and maintain integrations between the Atlassian suite and enterprise tools (e.g., Slack, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines) to improve developer experience and operational efficiency

• Enforce security controls, access governance, and auditability aligned to compliance needs and internal standards

• Enable users through documentation, office hours/trainings, and best-practice guidance for admins, project teams, and stakeholders

• Other duties as assigned

About You

Qualifications & Skills

• 7+ years of relevant experience administering and engineering enterprise Jira/Atlassian platforms

• Deep expertise with Jira (Software and Service Management), Confluence, Bitbucket, and (ideally) Opsgenie in Cloud and/or Data Center

• Strong automation/scripting skills using native Atlassian automation and scripting tools (e.g., ScriptRunner, Groovy) to implement complex logic and governance at scale

• Infrastructure familiarity supporting Atlassian Data Center, including Linux-based hosting and databases (PostgreSQL and/or SQL Server)

• Proven analytical approach to root-cause recurring issues and implement durable platform/process improvements (not just quick fixes)

• Excellent communication and partnership skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across engineering, business teams, and executive leadership

• Nice to have: Atlassian certifications (e.g., ACP-120, ACP-620), experience in regulated/financial services environments, AWS/Azure exposure, and working knowledge of Git-based workflows and CI/CD principles
