As a Senior Engineer, you will contribute to solving engineering problems at scale and developing high-quality, scalable software. This role is defined by technical excellence and craft, focusing on the architecture and implementation of distributed systems, and refactoring complex, monolithic systems. You will be able to make major code design decisions and contribute to technical solution designs, exercising significant autonomy and ownership over your work.
The team & how they connect
This newly formed, Australia-based team has taken ownership of Xero.com with the core goal of dramatically driving conversion through the website. The team is very culture-focused and values strong collaboration, working closely with multiple teams and stakeholders across the business. You'll join a team that looks after xero.com, ensuring it is live 24/7
The team is currently working on
• Making the website crawlable for modern AI algorithms
• A huge amount of backend monitoring to ensure 24/7 uptime
• Changes to improve search optimisation and adding new widgets and forms
• The stack includes React, Java 11 or above, AWS (S3, Lambda, API Gateway, CDK), and CI/CD tooling (TeamCity, Github Actions)
Where and how you can work
This team is predominantly based in Melbourne with the Engineering Manager based out of NZ and the Lead Engineer based out of the US. This role can be hybrid or remote with no mandatory office days. In Australia, we have offices in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane where we have barista made coffee and numerous weekly “boost days” which include breakfast, lunch or afternoon socials.
