Role Description

Amtech is accelerating its cloud modernization journey across products and internal platforms.

The Senior Cloud Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and optimizing Amtech’s cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices. You’ll build automation, drive reliability and scalability, and ensure the security and performance of our production environments.

This is a hands-on engineering leadership role that collaborates across Product Development, Security, and Infrastructure teams globally. You’ll help shape Amtech’s cloud standards, mentor other engineers, and implement solutions that enable faster, safer, and more resilient product delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Architecture & Design

• Architect, implement, and optimize scalable cloud infrastructure (AWS primary; Azure experience a plus).

• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting multiple application teams.

• Lead infrastructure-as-code adoption and standardization using Terraform or CloudFormation.

• Build secure, resilient, and cost-efficient multi-account, multi-environment architectures.

Automation & Operations

• Automate provisioning, deployment, and configuration management to improve repeatability and speed.

• Build and manage containerized environments using Kubernetes, ECS, or EKS.

• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana, or Prometheus.

• Own incident response and root cause analysis for cloud environments, ensuring SLAs and SLOs are met.

Security & Compliance

• Implement cloud security best practices, including IAM design, secrets management, and network segmentation.

• Collaborate with the Information Security team to enforce ISO 27001 and SOC 2 controls.

• Integrate compliance, vulnerability scanning, and patch management into pipelines (“shift left” security).

Collaboration & Leadership

• Partner closely with development teams to enable efficient, self-service deployment models.

• Contribute to global cloud governance, cost optimization, and architectural reviews.

• Mentor junior engineers in automation, observability, and secure DevOps principles.

• Coordinate with peers in the U.S. to maintain global consistency and reliability.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• 7+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or platform reliability roles.

• Deep expertise in AWS services (EC2, ECS/EKS, S3, RDS, IAM, Lambda, VPC, etc.).

• Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell).

• Strong understanding of containers, Kubernetes, and GitOps workflows (Argo CD, Flux).

• Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK).

• Good grasp of networking, DNS, and cloud security fundamentals.

• Proven experience collaborating in distributed global teams.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline..
