Required Skills
Job Description
Mind Oasis (by Rituals) is building a new kind of wellbeing experience combining the power of smart, cutting-edge technology and hardware. We are an international omni-channel brand that helps people unwind from their daily stress. Within Beauty Tech, we work with a small but growing, ambitious team to develop and scale products like Mind Oasis and Perfume Genie. We’re now strengthening our in-house cloud capabilities: bringing more platform knowledge, ownership and delivery power into the team.
As our Cloud Engineer, you’ll be in the middle of the action, hands-on building, scaling and stabilizing the GCP platform that supports our products as they grow internationally.
As a Cloud Engineer, you will:
• Build, improve and maintain cloud infrastructure and (app) services on Google Cloud Platform, using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Implement and evolve CI/CD pipelines, automation and delivery practices to ensure reliable releases from development to production.
• Work closely with our external supplier and internal stakeholders (Tech, Data and Program Management) to deliver solutions end-to-end.
• Contribute to platform stability, scalability, observability and cost-efficiency (monitoring, logging, alerting and reliability practices).
• Support secure and compliant implementations aligned with Rituals enterprise and regulatory standards (e.g. GDPR).
• Build proof-of-concepts where helpful and bring ideas to life through pragmatic experimentation.
• Participate in technical solution design on a project basis and translate design into working implementations.
You are energetic, pragmatic, and enjoy solving puzzles. You can simplify complex technical topics, and you like working in an open, fast-paced environment where you can build, improve, and learn. You’re comfortable collaborating with partners/suppliers and taking end-to-end ownership. We envision you with:
• 4+ years of relevant working experience in a cloud engineering (or similar hands-on) role.
• Strong hands-on experience with cloud-native and backend development (e.g. Node.js, API design, SQL) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), with a specialisation towards GCP.
• Experience implementing secure, scalable, highly available and cost-efficient cloud solutions in multi-environment setups (multi-region is a plus).
• Solid understanding of cloud security and compliance principles, including IAM, secure networking, data protection, and privacy-by-design (e.g. GDPR).
• An understanding of networking concepts such as shared VPCs, subnets, load balancing, Cloud DNS and hybrid connectivity.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation and modern DevOps practices.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Run, and App Engine.
• Experience with containerized or event-driven architectures (e.g. GKE, Pub/Sub) is a strong plus.
• Experience working with observability and reliability topics (monitoring, logging, alerting, incident response & post-mortems).
• Experience with API platforms and management (e.g. Apigee), including API security, versioning and lifecycle management.
• Strong communication skills and experience working with multidisciplinary stakeholders (including external suppliers).
Location and working conditions
While an 80/20 office/home working flexibility is available, this role requires a strong on-site presence to engage with stakeholders and build connections effectively. This position is based in Amsterdam at the Rituals Central Head Office.
Growth path / development opportunities
In this role you’ll primarily deliver hands-on, while growing into broader design responsibilities:
• Increase ownership of solution design (from project-level designs to larger platform patterns)
• Learn and apply architectural trade-offs (pragmatic now vs future-proof later)
• Get exposure to architecture reviews and decision-making together with the external architect and internal stakeholders
• Grow influence in standardization, best practices and platform governance over time
