Senior Backend Engineer (m/f/x)

In this role, you take ownership of the development and stability of our backend systems in the area of procurement.
You work closely with other engineers and and play a key role in delivering a high-performing, scalable, and reliable shopping experience for our customers.

Your Tasks:
• You are responsible for the reliability, scalability, and performance of our backend services and continuously evolve them to ensure a seamless customer experience.
• You make technical architecture decisions and actively shape the evolution of our system landscape in the checkout and payments domain.
• You ensure sustainable high code and system quality through appropriate measures (e.g., testing strategies, code reviews, monitoring) and continuously improve them.
• You collaborate closely with other engineers and stakeholders to ensure that business requirements are delivered efficiently, on time, and with clear impact.
• You take ownership of prioritizing and driving technical initiatives, making trade-offs transparent and enabling well-informed decisions.
• You ensure system stability in production, perform root cause analysis of incidents, and implement measures to prevent recurring issues.
• You drive the continuous improvement of processes, tools, and ways of working within the team and actively contribute to the evolution of our engineering culture.

Your Profile:
• Relevant experience: You have several years of proven experience (typically 5+ years) developing and operating backend systems in PHP using frameworks such as Symfony in a production environment.
• Industry knowledge: You have a solid understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures, and you are able to design scalable and reliable backend solutions.
• Core competency: You have a strong ability to ensure high-quality, maintainable code through testing, code reviews, and performance optimization.
• Key technical skills: You have hands-on experience with MySQL (schema design and query optimization), Redis (caching and session management), and Docker.
• Languages: You are proficient in PHP; additional experience with SQL and familiarity with common backend tools and technologies is a plus.
