Why this role matters:

As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET III), you will be a key quality advocate for the Vonage platform, ensuring quality, testability, and security across the full software development lifecycle. You will bridge engineering and quality by building robust automation frameworks that support everything from early development to global, high-traffic production systems.
Your work directly impacts the reliability and scalability of mission-critical conversational commerce and messaging platforms.

Your key responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks, test suites, and scripts integrated into CI/CD pipelines.

• Work as an active member of Agile teams, partnering closely with Product and Engineering to define testing requirements and plans.

• Participate in design and architecture reviews with a focus on test automation, performance, and scalability.

• Test complex routing, decision engines, and event-driven workflows for distributed, multi-tier systems.

• Implement shift-left testing by collaborating with developers on unit coverage and early defect prevention.

• Use observability tools to identify root causes of failures and monitor test reliability trends.

What you'll bring

• 5+ years of experience in software test automation for complex systems.

• Proven experience designing and building test automation frameworks and CI-integrated test suites.

• Strong programming skills in Python, with familiarity in Java or Go.

• Experience testing distributed, event-driven architectures (Pub/Sub, Cloud Tasks, Kafka).

• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP or AWS), including containerized and serverless services.

• Experience testing REST APIs, asynchronous workflows, and multi-tier applications.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills in fast-paced environments.

Experience we consider a plus:

• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GCP Cloud Build).

• Exposure to commerce systems, payments, or transaction workflows.

• Experience with performance, load, and scalability testing for high-traffic systems.

• Familiarity with contract testing (Pact), Kafka, API security, or SSO standards (SAML, OIDC).
