Product Designer - Design Systems

JOB SUMMARY:

As a Product Designer for Design Systems with a strong design engineering mindset, you will collaborate closely with designers, engineers, researchers, and cross-functional stakeholders to build and scale a cohesive Design Language System for millions of users. This role involves creating and maintaining high-quality components, patterns, and guidelines that drive consistency and efficiency across product experiences, while also contributing to the technical implementation of the system.

You will define frameworks and governance to enable teams to effectively leverage the design system, continuously identifying opportunities to expand and improve it. A key aspect of this role is leveraging AI as a core capability — using tools like Cursor, Claude Code, and other emerging technologies to prototype, automate workflows, and build scalable solutions faster.

Your work will play a critical role in elevating design quality, bridging design and engineering, and shaping how modern tooling and AI can enhance the way products are designed and built across JioHotstar’s mobile, web, and TV platforms.

ABOUT THE TEAM:

Design is one of the key teams at JioHotstar. We have 3 key areas of focus - Product Design, UX Research and Design Standards.

We are a closely-knit team of 30+ people at the moment, who work across the spectrum of design from deriving insight from data, designing interfaces and prototypes, and testing with users to motion graphics and illustrations.
We’re looking for someone who thinks beyond traditional design roles — combining systems thinking, design craft, and AI-powered building capabilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES::

Co-own the Design Language System and drive its evolution and adoption to ensure high-quality, consistent product experiences

•
Collaborate closely with designers, engineers, researchers, and cross-functional stakeholders to improve how teams design and build day-to-day

•
Design, build, and document components, patterns, libraries, and guidelines that enable scalable and consistent experiences

•
Define and implement frameworks, processes, and governance models to maximize effective usage of the Design System

•
Partner with designers and engineers to identify gaps, solve system-level challenges, and scale the system for long-term sustainability

•
Act as a strong advocate for design systems, driving awareness and adoption across the organization

•
Leverage AI-powered tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, and similar) to prototype, automate workflows, and accelerate design system development

Bridge design and engineering by building lightweight tools, scripts, or prototypes that improve efficiency and system adoption

•
Explore and integrate emerging AI workflows to enhance how design systems are created, maintained, and scaled

•
Identify and implement opportunities to reduce manual effort through automation, improving speed, quality, and consistency

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS::
•
Proven ability to collaborate deeply with Design, Engineering, and cross-functional partners to build impactful design systems and tooling

•
Strong design craft with a keen eye for detail and a solid foundation in typography, composition, color, layout, and interaction design

•
Systems thinking mindset — ability to design holistically rather than focusing on one-off solutions

•
High proficiency in Figma, with working knowledge of Git and modern front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript or similar frameworks)

•
Inclination toward design engineering, with the ability to translate design concepts into functional prototypes or code

•
Proactive approach to leveraging AI as a core skill for building, problem-solving, and accelerating workflows

•
Hands-on experience or strong interest in AI-assisted tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) and modern development workflows

•
Comfort experimenting with emerging technologies and continuously evolving ways of working

•
Ability to build lightweight tools, automations, or plugins to improve team efficiency and workflows

•
Understanding of accessibility and inclusive design principles; experience building tools or plugins is a plus

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE::
•
3-5 years of relevant Product Design experience, with a proven, solid, up-to-date technical understanding of best practices, developments, trends, limits & constraints of mobile and web software development

•
1+ year(s) experience of architecting / building / implementing / documenting / maintaining Design Systems at scale
