Principal Software Engineer - Blockchain Wallet Infrastructure

Location: Remote - Location: European Union (remote-first, office optional) Paris/ France is always preferred. Or as close as possible.

Compensation: $145K - $240K

Join a stellar team of leaders and experts building the backbone of blockchain wallet infrastructure for the next financial era, specializing in cryptography, security, and distributed systems. Our client is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and scaling of their core backend systems. This is a high-impact, leadership role focused on making key architectural decisions and ensuring their platform is fast, resilient, and secure under the high-stakes demands of financial workflows.

You will own mission-critical projects end-to-end, acting as a technical leader who drives engineering standards and the long-term vision. This role involves deep technical execution alongside strategic collaboration with product, security, and executive leadership to align technical roadmap with business goals.

Responsibilities:

• Architectural Leadership: Lead the design and development of scalable, secure backend services and APIs, and define and evolve architecture for databases, microservices, and integrations.
• Project Ownership: Own mission-critical projects end-to-end, from requirements gathering and design through production deployment and iteration.
• Performance & Reliability: Troubleshoot and resolve complex performance and reliability challenges at scale.
• Engineering Excellence: Drive improvements to CI/CD, observability, and engineering processes across teams, promoting best practices and quality standards.
• Strategic Alignment: Collaborate with leadership to shape roadmap priorities and long-term technical vision.
• Mentorship: Mentor senior engineers, share knowledge, and represent the technical direction in client discussions.

Requirements:
• Experience: 10+ years of backend software engineering experience, with significant leadership experience in fintech or blockchain.
• Language Mastery: Mastery of TypeScript plus one or more systems languages (e.g., Rust, Go, C++).
• Platform Building: Proven track record building scalable APIs, infrastructure, and developer platforms.
• Data & Cloud: Deep expertise with databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, NoSQL) and cloud services (AWS).
• Methodology: Strong knowledge of microservices, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC).
• Security: Familiarity with applied cryptography, PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), and secure backend architectures.
• Leadership Skills: Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across the organization.
