Empowering Bosch Teams through Expert Release Management

Role Overview:

As a Mobile App Release Consultant at Bosch, you will be the go-to internal expert who helps product teams deliver high-quality iOS apps. You will advise and support product owners, developers, and QA through every stage of the app release process. Using your strong iOS deployment knowledge, you will simplify workflows, reduce risks, and ensure apps are released securely, reliably, and on time to places like the Apple App Store, Intune, and TestFlight. The role needs both deep technical know-how of iOS releases and the ability to explain complex steps clearly while promoting good practices across teams.

  

Key Responsibilities Include (with a strong consulting focus):

• Strategic Release Consulting & Enablement:

• Act as a trusted advisor to internal development teams, providing expert guidance on iOS app release strategies, best practices, and industry standards.

• Consult on metadata optimization, version control strategies, and effective troubleshooting of deployment issues to ensure smooth and efficient releases.

• Facilitate the entire release process, from planning and coordination to final submission, ensuring teams adhere to internal and external guidelines.

• Manage and consult on Intune app auto-renewal processes, ensuring business continuity for internal applications.

• Code Signing & Security Advisory:

• Provide expert consultation on secure code signing practices, certificate management, and provisioning profiles.

• Guide teams in automating their code signing processes and advise on secure key management strategies.

• Consult on app resigning requirements for various distribution needs, ensuring compliance and efficiency.

• Process Optimization & Best Practice Mentorship:

• Collaborate with development teams to review existing release processes, identifying areas for improvement and driving their implementation.

• Consult on integrating including test automation, into the release pipeline.

• Mentor developers on release engineering best practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

• Automation & Tooling Guidance:

• Advise and assist teams in implementing and optimizing automation scripts and tools (e.g., Fastlane, Python, Shell) for builds, testing, and deployments.

• Consult on the setup and management of build server infrastructure, ensuring scalability and reliability.

• Additional capabilities app resigning process.

• Knowledge Transfer & Documentation Leadership:

• Develop and deliver clear, actionable training sessions and workshops for product teams on new release tools, processes, and methodologies.

• Create comprehensive documentation and guidelines that empower internal clients to effectively manage release cycles.

• Serve as the go-to subject matter expert for all iOS release-related inquiries within Bosch.

 

What you bring to the table (Consultant-level expertise):

• Extensive Experience: 4+ years of hands-on experience in iOS development with a significant focus on build engineering, release management, or DevOps roles, preferably in a consulting or advisory capacity.

• Deep iOS Release Orientation: Profound expertise in iOS code signing, provisioning profiles, and complex troubleshooting scenarios, coupled with the ability to explain these concepts clearly to non-experts.

• Automation & Scripting Fluency: Proficiency with Fastlane and strong scripting skills (Bash, Shell, Python, Ruby) to advise on and implement automation solutions.

• Version Control & Dependency Management: Solid understanding of Git, branching strategies, dependency managers (e.g., CocoaPods, Swift Package Manager), and testing frameworks to guide teams effectively.

• MDM Insight: Experience with Mobile Device Management solutions (e.g., Intune) to consult on internal app distribution.

• Exceptional Consulting Skills: Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts, influence stakeholders, collaborate across diverse teams, and proactively solve problems for internal clients.

 

Nice to Have:

• CI/CD Leadership: Proven experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing continuous integration/continuous delivery pipelines for mobile applications, including advising on automated testing and monitoring tools.

• Experience in a large enterprise environment, navigating complex organizational structures.

BE/B-Tech, M-Tech
