Job Description
About Mariana Minerals
Mariana Minerals is a software-first, vertically integrated minerals company on a mission to supply the critical minerals powering modern energy, AI, and defense technologies. We’re reimagining the minerals supply chain by combining deep industry expertise with advanced software, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
The Role
We are hiring a Mining Engineering Intern to work on real, high-impact problems within the Process & Plant Engineering team. You will contribute directly to our CopperOne project, working closely with engineers and domain experts.
This role is designed to provide hands-on experience building and shipping solutions, not just supporting tasks.
What You’ll Do
• Support development and execution of mine planning workflows including pit optimization, production scheduling, and resource classification
• Assist with building and documenting standardized engineering workflows to improve consistency and efficiency across the mine planning team
• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks using scripting tools (e.g., Python, VBA, or mine planning software APIs) and support implementation
• Compile and QA/QC technical inputs including topographic data, drill hole databases, and resource block models
• Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and study deliverables in support of NI 43-101 or SK-1300 reporting requirements
Desired Qualifications
• Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Mining Engineering, with coursework in mine design, geostatistics, or resource estimation
• Familiarity with mine planning software (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan, Datamine, or similar) is preferred
• Basic programming skills in Python or similar language; interest in applying automation to engineering workflows
• Strong organizational skills and comfort working with large technical datasets
• Interest in critical minerals, lithium, or early-stage project development is a strong asset
