Mulgrave School is seeking a Manager, Technology Operations to lead the systems, infrastructure, and operational practices that keep our learning environment secure, resilient, and always-on.
This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on technology leader who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys building reliable systems that support innovative teaching and learning. As a key member of the Learning & Technology Services (LTS) team, you will oversee daily technology operations while strengthening cybersecurity, business continuity, and incident readiness across the school.
You will lead the operational backbone of a modern educational technology ecosystem, supporting cloud services, networks, endpoints, classroom technology, and a large-scale 1:1 Apple laptop program used by students and staff every day.
The Opportunity
The Manager, Technology Operations provides operational leadership for Mulgrave’s technology environment, ensuring systems are secure, reliable, and responsive to the needs of a vibrant school community.
Reporting to the Director of Information and Learning Technology, you will:
Lead the day-to-day operation of the school’s technology infrastructure and services
Guide a skilled support team and manage vendor-delivered services
Strengthen cybersecurity operations and incident readiness
Ensure strong service management practices, documentation, and operational governance
Provide critical operational insights as a member of the Technology Governance Committee
Key Responsibilities:
This role combines hands-on technical leadership, strategic operations management, and team development in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
Lead daily technology operations across infrastructure, cloud services, endpoints, and campus systems to ensure secure, reliable service delivery.
Supervise and develop LTS support staff while fostering a culture of service excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Manage the full lifecycle of the school’s 1:1 Apple laptop program, including deployment, inventory, refresh, and retirement.
Oversee cybersecurity operations, including monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and security awareness.
Maintain business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities, including tested backup, recovery, and failover processes.
Provide operational leadership during critical outages, security incidents, and major school events.
Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers while supporting operational budgeting and governance.
Maintain documentation, monitor service performance and infrastructure health, and drive continuous improvement using automation and AI.
Ensure secure, well-governed cloud configurations and reliable infrastructure monitoring, performance, and capacity management.
Required Qualifications
Legally entitled to work in Canada
Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in technology operations, infrastructure, or systems leadership roles
Experience leading support or technical teams and building team capacity
Demonstrated experience applying cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., CIS Controls, SOC 2, NIST CSF) to guide risk-based decision-making
Experience participating in or leading cybersecurity incident response
Strong hands-on experience with enterprise networks, identity systems, endpoint management, and backup/recovery infrastructure
Experience developing and executing disaster recovery plans, including backup infrastructure management (e.g., Veeam), RPO/RTO definition, and restoration testing
Experience operating within structured IT service management environments (ITIL-informed practices)
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Ability to work on campus, full-time
Preferred Experience and Qualities
Experience in a K–12, independent school, or higher education environment
Experience administering Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, including user lifecycle, security, and access control
Experience with MDM platforms, particularly Mosyle and Intune
Experience managing UniFi network infrastructure (switching, wireless, monitoring)
Familiarity with RADIUS/SCIM network authentication systems such as Foxpass
Experience with PaperCut print management and access control
Experience supporting Apple and Windows endpoints
Formal cybersecurity training or certifications
Experience managing large-scale 1:1 device programs
Experience conducting vendor security reviews or third-party risk assessments
Experience using AI tools to improve operational efficiency and decision-making

The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $125,000.
The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience in accordance with BC labour laws and company policies.
