• Develop into broader ownership of the month-end close over time
• Help shape a more efficient, scalable, and audit-ready accounting function
•
Where you can make an impact:
Own and operate key areas of the general ledger
• Lead end-to-end accounting for compensation (payroll and equity), leases, accruals, and consolidation/intercompany
• Own the full cycle for your areas, including journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and internal reporting
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial results in accordance with GAAP and company policies
Drive execution of the month-end close and internal reporting
• Partner with the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting and Compliance to manage close timelines and ensure deliverables are completed on schedule
• Own the coordination and completion of internal reporting and flux analysis across the accounting team
• Act as a key operator in the close process, helping drive accountability across stakeholders
Leverage automation and AI to scale accounting processes
• Actively identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve efficiency across the close and reporting cycle
• Utilize NerdWallet’s internal AI tools and resources to streamline workflows, enhance accuracy, and reduce manual effort
• Experiment with and implement scalable solutions, with the support of leadership, to modernize accounting operations
Lead audit and controls execution
• Serve as a primary point of contact for auditors for assigned areas and support broader audit coordination (PBCs, walkthroughs, testing)
• Maintain and enhance internal controls (SOX) across owned processes and support controls over broader close activities
• Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and audit-ready
Support M&A integration and operationalization
• Partner with the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting and Compliance on M&A activities, including integration of acquired entities into close processes and systems
• Help operationalize new accounting processes, ensuring scalability and alignment with company standards
Lead and develop a team
• Manage and mentor 2–3 accountants, providing guidance, review, and professional development
• Drive accountability, organization, and execution across your team, especially during close
Partner cross-functionally
• Work closely with FP&A on accruals, variance analysis, and budget vs. actual insights
• Collaborate with Financial Systems and HRIS teams on payroll, equity, and systems-related initiatives
• Partner with Legal and business stakeholders on accruals and other accounting matters
You are:
• Highly organized and deadline-driven, with a strong sense of ownership over deliverables
• Detail-oriented and hands-on, comfortable operating in the weeds while managing processes
• A strong executor who can independently drive work to completion in a fast-paced environment
• A clear communicator who can coordinate across teams and ensure accountability during the close process
• A collaborative leader who can develop team members while maintaining high standards
Your experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required

• Exposure to M&A integration and accounting operationalization
• Experience leveraging automation and AI tools to improve accounting processes and drive efficiency
