Malware Analyst/ Reverse Engineer

The Role:

Intel 471 is looking for a Malware Analyst to join our world-class team, reporting to the Director of Malware Research on the Malware Intelligence team. The role can be located in or around Latin America on a remote basis.

Do you enjoy ripping apart malware to find out how it works? Intel 471 is looking for reverse engineers with experience analyzing malware to join our Malware Intelligence team. The team’s role is to proactively track and analyze cyber crime malware. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Write and maintain malware detection and config extraction scripts within our automation framework.

Investigate and document malware campaigns.

Learn to maintain and contribute to our automation framework.

Investigate and document malware and its command and control mechanisms. 

Perform open-ended research within the scope of our team’s mission: to understand and monitor cyber crime malware operations. 

Education, Experience & Qualifications: 

Candidates must have:

Demonstrable experience reverse engineering malware. 

Knowledge of how to properly handle information and malware (good OPSEC).

The ability to collaborate in a remote team, but also work independently. 

Threat research skills, the ability to find malware samples and malware campaigns.

The ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English at a decent level.

Strong candidates will have:

Demonstrable experience reverse engineering malware.

Familiarity with the LATAM malware landscape, including technical experience in identifying and analyzing regional malware families (e.g., Grandoreiro, Javali, Mekotio) and tracking localized distribution campaigns.

Demonstrable experience programming in Python or other popular languages (Go, C/C++, Java, etc). 

Experience working under version control with git.

Experience working comfortably on Linux servers.

The role is available anywhere in or around Latin America and involves no required travel. The role requires regular contact with our international team located primarily in Europe
so a comfort working with diverse professional and cultural backgrounds is required.
