ROLE SUMMARY:

We are looking for a highly skilled and hands-on Senior AWS Cloud Network Engineer to join our Cloud & Platform Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and automating network solutions across AWS and hybrid environments. You will focus on building and securing large-scale network architectures leveraging AWS networking services such as VPC, Subnets, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Cloud WAN, and Outposts.

This is a hands-on platform engineering role focused on building code and infrastructure patterns for AWS networking, while collaborating closely with platform, security, and application teams.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

• Architecture & Design: Design and implement AWS networking architectures that are scalable, secure, and compliant with LSEG standards.

• Hybrid Connectivity: Build and manage hybrid connectivity solutions including Direct Connect, DXG associations, and Outposts integration.

• Network Automation: Develop and maintain automation for network deployments using Terraform.

• Security & Compliance: Implement network security controls with AWS Firewall, and monitoring controls.

• Collaboration: Work with application, cloud, and security teams to design connectivity solutions for workloads across AWS and on-premises data centres.

• Innovation: Evaluate and implement emerging AWS networking services (e.g., VPC Lattice, PrivateLink) to enhance the platform.

• Documentation & Mentorship: Maintain detailed network documentation and provide mentorship to junior engineers.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

• 3+ years of experience focused on AWS networking design and build.

• Strong expertise in AWS networking services: VPC, Transit Gateway, Cloud WAN, Direct Connect, AWS Firewall, Outposts networking, VPC Endpoints, PrivateLink.

• Deep knowledge of IP routing (BGP, OSPF), subnetting, VPNs, and hybrid cloud connectivity.

• Hands-on experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools for network automation.

• Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation and troubleshooting.

• Familiarity with AWS Organizations and multi-account networking patterns.

• Strong understanding of network security: firewalls, segmentation, IDS/IPS, DDoS protection.

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across hybrid and cloud environments.

• Strong communication and documentation skills.

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:

• AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty (strong plus).

• Other AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, Security).

• Experience with Outposts networking or hybrid setups with data centres.

• Experience in financial services or regulated environments.
