Lab Support Senior Engineer

Our global Technical Engineering Services organization relies on Lab Support Senior Engineers to operate effectively in a fast‑moving, highly technical environment. This role provides hands‑on exposure to new technologies and is key to ensuring a resilient, secure, and scalable lab infrastructure for engineering teams. As part of the Cork Lab Operations team, you will have the chance to influence and enhance lab capabilities that directly support Dell’s innovation priorities, particularly in infrastructure security and software‑defined architectures.

Join us to do the best work of your career and make a profound social impact as a Lab Support Senior Engineer on our Engineering Infrastructure Services (EIS) Team in Cork Ireland. The position, located at our Ovens site, supports both local and international partners.

What you’ll achieve
 

You will be responsible for deploying, automating, and maintaining lab infrastructure spanning compute, network, storage, and software systems. Tasks include equipment provisioning, issue resolution, setup support for technical partners, and other operational duties. You will work with the latest storage, server, and switching technologies while evaluating new innovations. Collaboration with the team is essential to ensure high‑quality support for engineers. A major focus of the role is improving operational maturity through automation, compliant configurations, and Scrum‑aligned coding practices.

You will:
 

• Ensure lab environments meet security compliance standards, including network segmentation, patching, and hardening baselines, while supporting Layer 2 infrastructure, VLANs, and core network services.
• Provide architectural-level support across networking, server, and virtualized environments.
• Administer and support Windows and Linux systems within Agile/Scrum workflows.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to design, define, and implement lab configurations.
• Document installations, diagrams, and automation, and support full lab lifecycle operations including inventory management and onboarding new equipment.

Essential Requirements

• BS degree or equivalent experience (5–10 years) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Expertise in 2–3 of: networking, server hardware, virtualization, Operating Systems, coding.
• Experience with security compliance awareness and hands-on implementation experience.
• Strong communication skills and documentation discipline.

Desirable Requirements

• Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, Ansible, etc. supporting automation.
• Exposure to agile/scrum methodology.
