Quick Summary

We are seeking an IT Network Engineer to join our hybrid team in Braga, Portugal. As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing network infrastructure, ensuring the integrity and security of our clients' data. You should have a strong background in networking and a passion for cloud computing.

Job Description

Eurofins is an international network of independent life sciences companies, providing a unique range of analytical testing services to clients across multiple industries, to make life and our environment safer, healthier and more sustainable. From the food you eat, to the water you drink, to the medicines you rely on, Eurofins laboratories work with the biggest companies in the world to ensure the products they supply are safe, their ingredients are authentic, and labelling is accurate.

The Eurofins network is dedicated to delivering testing services that contribute to the health and safety of society and the planet, and to its corporate responsibility to protect the environment and ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion across its companies around the world.

We are looking for experienced Network Engineers (f/m) to take ownership of our networking services and play a key role in designing, building and operating modern, secure infrastructure environments.

You will join a small, cross-functional team of highly skilled Application, Storage, Compute and Cloud Engineers. Together, you will design and implement secure, segregated infrastructure zones across multiple international locations, ensuring high availability, resilience and performance.

This role offers genuine end-to-end influence - from understanding business requirements through to solution design, implementation and ongoing service management — and requires someone who can move fast and adjust solutions on the fly when needed.

You will use your hands-on experience in both BUILD and RUN of networks to deliver practical, sustainable solutions.

Your Main Objective

To own and manage networking services across our GSC–NSC IT Infrastructure landscape, supporting approximately 4,000 end users across more than 30 global sites.

Your Role

• You will support and deliver strategic infrastructure initiatives, including:
• Executing network segregation programmes,
• Designing and implementing virtual and physical security zones,
• Supporting the segregation of application environments (Application Availability Groups),
• Designing and creating newly defined segregated infrastructure zones,
• Supporting application migrations into new secure zones,
• Designing, implementing and managing modern networking solutions (private, public and hybrid cloud),
• Managing WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN and load balancer services,
• Acting as the networking specialist within the defined IT service scope,
• Ensuring high availability and performance of critical applications,
• Identifying opportunities to innovate and enhance service delivery,
• Improving processes through automation and sustainable solutions,
• Producing high-quality documentation (Low-Level Designs, policies, procedures),
• Working closely with Cloud, Compute, Security and C&S teams to ensure alignment and governance,
• Ensuring services comply with internal policies, standards and agreed SLAs.

We are looking for a Network Engineer (f/m) with at least five years’ solid experience in enterprise networking.

Most importantly, you bring strong hands-on expertise in firewalls (FortiGate or Check Point), switching technologies (Cisco, Fortinet or other vendors) and wireless/Wi-Fi solutions.

You should also have proven experience in network infrastructure design and transitions, SD-WAN, data centre networking and complex network migrations, as well as practical experience in network component maintenance (including upgrades) and switch stacking. Experience with ticketing tools (preferably ServiceNow) and the ability to read, understand and produce clear technical documentation are essential.

We are looking for a collaborative team player who can work effectively in cross-functional environments and is willing to travel internationally when required.

It would be advantageous if you hold CCNP-level certification and can demonstrate experience in LAN/WAN/SD-WAN design and implementation at enterprise scale, particularly during acquisitions and transformation programmes. Familiarity with protocols such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, HTTP and BGP, as well as knowledge of VeloCloud, VoIP, QoS, network monitoring, load balancing, VPN and cloud networking (Azure and AWS) will be considered a strong advantage.

What We Offer

• End-to-end ownership and technical influence,
• A collaborative, highly skilled and delivery-focused team,
• Exposure to modern cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments,
• The opportunity to shape and modernise a global network landscape.

We support your development! Do you feel like you don’t match 100% of the requirements? Don’t hesitate to apply anyway! Eurofins companies are committed to supporting your career development.

We embrace diversity!  As an Equal Opportunity Employer, the Eurofins network of companies believes in strength and innovation through diversity.
