Role Overview

We are seeking an Automation Intern to support our IT and DevOps teams in streamlining internal operations. This role is designed for a technical problem-solver who enjoys identifying manual bottlenecks and replacing them with efficient, automated workflows.
You will work on a variety of projects, ranging from connecting software platforms via APIs to enhancing our monitoring and alerting capabilities. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply scripting skills to real-world production environments and improve organizational efficiency.

Focus: Scripting, System Maintenance, and Operational Efficiency

Key Responsibilities

Workflow AnalysisCollaborate with team members to audit repetitive manual tasks in system administration and user support to identify automation candidates.

Scripting & DevelopmentWrite, test, and deploy scripts (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) to automate routine tasks such as user onboarding/offboarding and software distribution.

Tool & API IntegrationAssist in connecting different software platforms (e.g., fetching logs from a SIEM tool) to trigger automated actions or reports.

Monitoring & AlertingHelp maintain and improve monitoring dashboards by creating custom alerts and automated triggers to ensure high system uptime.

Technical DocumentationCreate clear, standardized documentation for all automated processes and develop “how-to” guides for end-users and internal staff.

System MaintenanceMonitor the health of existing automated workflows to ensure they execute correctly and troubleshoot any failures.

Qualifications & Skills

Educational BackgroundCurrently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

Scripting ProficiencyFoundational knowledge of at least one scripting language (Python is highly preferred).

Linux FundamentalsComfort working within the Linux Command Line (CLI), including basic navigation, file permissions, and process management.

Basic NetworkingA basic understanding of core network concepts (IP addressing, DHCP, DNS) and comfort using standard diagnostic tools like ping or nslookup to troubleshoot connectivity.

Logical ReasoningThe ability to deconstruct a manual, multi-step process into a series of logical, automated steps.

Proactive Problem SolvingA natural inclination to look for technical shortcuts and more efficient ways to handle data and system tasks.

Professional Attributes

Attention to DetailAbility to test scripts thoroughly to ensure reliability before deployment.
