infrastructure Architect - Utilities Sector - Brussels - ASAP Start

The Senior Infrastructure Architect will design, model, and supervise the evolution of IT infrastructure systems (servers, networks, storage, cloud and hybrid environments) to ensure performance, security, scalability, and regulatory compliance of the information system.

The role operates in a regulated, security-sensitive environment and combines hands-on technical architecture, governance, and cybersecurity integration.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Design

• Analyse business and project needs to define appropriate infrastructure solutions.
• Design and document technical architectures for on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Model, simulate, and assess existing and target infrastructure landscapes.
• Define technical standards and architectural best practices.

Implementation & Delivery Oversight

• Support and validate the implementation of infrastructure and integration solutions.
• Supervise and validate the quality of technical project deliverables.
• Propose improvements to infrastructure performance, resilience, and scalability.

Cloud, Virtualisation & Containers

• Architect and support cloud and hybrid infrastructures (IaaS / PaaS).
• Design and contribute to containerised environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Participate in and support virtualisation projects (compute, storage, networking).

Security, Risk & Compliance

• Integrate cybersecurity principles at infrastructure level (Zero Trust, IAM, firewalling).
• Contribute to security and compliance frameworks such as GDPR, ISO 27001, and NIS2.
• Participate actively in cyber risk identification and mitigation.
• Ensure continuous compliance with applicable security and regulatory standards.

Documentation & Governance

• Produce and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and procedures.
• Contribute to infrastructure governance and alignment with ITIL-based practices.

Technical Expertise

• Proven senior-level experience in infrastructure architecture, including cloud and hybrid environments.
• Demonstrated experience architecting containerised solutions using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proven participation in virtualisation projects (servers, storage, networking).
• Strong expertise in:• Physical and virtual infrastructure design
• Storage architectures
• Cloud architectures (IaaS, PaaS, Infrastructure as Code)
• Network and security protocols (firewalls, IAM, Zero Trust)

• Ability to produce clear, structured, and maintainable technical documentation.

Security & Regulatory Knowledge

• Knowledge of IT security requirements applicable to essential or regulated service providers.
• Practical experience with GDPR, ISO 27001, and NIS2 in an infrastructure context.
• Experience contributing to cybersecurity risk management activities.

Certifications

• Relevant technical and/or security certifications aligned with infrastructure, cloud, or cybersecurity domains.
