Job Description
About us
At National Media, we're the driving force behind Australia's most influential B2B events. As the creators and operators of market-leading exhibitions across a range of industries, we empower businesses and professionals to connect, engage, and thrive. Our events are where innovation meets opportunity - offering a platform to discover new products, gain valuable insights, and forge lasting relationships.
With nearly 30 years of experience and a strong reputation in the industry, we're a well-funded, dynamic company that embraces entrepreneurship and innovation. We believe in cutting through red tape to achieve growth and success, and we're passionate about creating impactful events that truly make a difference. If you're looking for a place where your ideas are valued and you can make a real impact, you'll find your home at National Media.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a senior commercial leader to take the reins of sales and partnerships across our food, beverage and hospitality portfolio. This is a high-impact role for someone who wants to lead from the front and build a commercial engine that delivers year after year.
The portfolio is one of the most exciting in the Australian events landscape. It's anchored by Food & Hospitality Week, a multi-show umbrella that brings together the Restaurant & Foodservice Show, Pizza Pasta & Italian Food Show, RESTECH, and the Cafe & Coffee Show under one roof. It also includes Food & Hospitality Queensland and a growing suite of foodservice digital channels that extend our reach and commercial footprint beyond the show floor.
Reporting to the Portfolio Director, you'll lead a talented sales team, contribute to high-value accounts, and shape the commercial strategy that powers the portfolio's next phase of growth. You'll be a visible presence across the food, beverage and hospitality industry, building executive-level relationships with operators, suppliers, associations and partners.
This role suits someone who thrives on the mix of coaching, closing and strategy. You'll balance short-term sales momentum with long-term commercial thinking, and you'll have the backing of a business that believes in cutting through red tape to get things done.
Key responsibilities:
Lead, coach and develop a high-performing sales team across outreach, negotiation and closing
Run weekly pipeline reviews, sales meetings and performance check-ins to drive focus and accountability
Set and manage sales targets, forecasting models and commission frameworks in partnership with the Portfolio Director and Commercial Director
Build and maintain best-practice playbooks covering pitch structure, objection handling and renewals
Deliver revenue growth across space, sponsorship and digital lines for every edition
Identify and commercialise new revenue streams, including digital products, cross-show packages and data-led sponsorships
Drive retention through proactive account management and early re-booking activity
Build and maintain executive-level relationships with major clients, associations and suppliers
Co-create strategic partnerships that strengthen brand positioning and open new commercial channels
Partner with Marketing, Content and Operations to make sure sales, campaigns and fulfilment are all pulling in the same direction
Maintain accurate forecasting and pipeline reporting to support commercial planning and board-level visibility
Must-haves:
Proven track record leading high performing B2B sales teams to hit and exceed revenue targets
Strong personal deal-making credentials, with experience closing complex, high-value accounts
Commercial mindset with a genuine feel for pipeline management, forecasting and sales data
Confident coach and people leader who can build culture, lift performance and develop talent
Credible industry presence and the ability to build executive and owner-level relationships
Experience in events, exhibitions, media or a closely related industry is highly regarded, as is knowledge of the food, beverage and hospitality sector
Collaborative operator who works well across Marketing, Operations and Content
Strong communicator, both in the room and in writing
Willingness to travel interstate for events, client meetings and industry functions
What we offer:
Attractive base salary + uncapped commissions
Respect, WFH flexibility and transparency
Modern offices with all the cool stuff
A culture that celebrates wins
A fun, dynamic and supportive team environment
Regular social events
