About the Role

We are redesigning our New Product Development (NPD) and Existing Product Development (EPD) operating system and are seeking an experienced specialist to build a robust, Excel-based Commercial Gate Tool to support consistent, high-quality decision-making across Gate 1, Gate 2, and Gate 3.

The process architecture and governance model are already defined. This role exists to close the tooling gap by designing and delivering a practical, user-friendly Excel framework that enables commercial evaluation, scenario analysis, and cross-functional alignment.

This is a short-term, high-impact project role focused on delivering a tangible, business-critical tool — not ongoing operational ownership.

What You’ll Do

Tool Design & Build

• Design and build an Excel-based Commercial Gate Tool covering:
• Kick-off
• Gate 1
• Gate 2
• Gate 3

• Create a clear, logical structure that aligns with existing NPD / EPD governance.

Commercial Modeling & Automation

• Integrate automated calculations, including:
• Target COGS derived from RRP and margin targets
• Volume, pricing, and margin scenarios

• Build scenario-handling logic to support:
• Different sourcing routes
• Project types
• COGS and cost structure assumptions

Supply Chain Handover & Outputs

• Design clean, usable Gate 3 outputs for Supply Chain, including:
• Shopping lists / component requirements
• PO spend timing
• Cash flow forecasts

Usability & Governance

• Apply formulas and macros where appropriate — creating a tool that is robust but not over-engineered.
• Focus on:
• Usability and clarity
• Version control
• Ease of adoption across functions (Commercial, Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing).

• Ensure the tool reflects how real commercial decisions are made — pragmatic, transparent, and actionable.

Collaboration & Iteration

• Work closely with business and operations leads to:
• Gather feedback
• Iterate quickly
• Align the tool to real-world use cases

Requirements:
Ideal Profile

• Expert-level Excel modeller with strong command of:
• Advanced formulas
• Scenario logic
• Macros / automation

• Proven experience building:
• Commercial decision-making tools
• Governance or stage-gate frameworks

• Strong commercial acumen:
• Margin targets
• Cost trade-offs
• Operational decision-making

• Comfortable working independently in an ambiguous, build-from-scratch environment.
• Experience in FMCG, retail, or product development environments strongly preferred.
