Endpoint Engineer (Modernization & Automation)

Drives endpoint modernization by designing and validating new endpoint capabilities that improve security, compliance, and operational efficiency. This role focuses on automation, pilot deployments, and transition planning to sustain modern endpoint controls at scale.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
• Provide engineering and architectural expertise to modernize endpoint management capabilities and deliver forward-looking solutions aligned with DHA hybrid endpoint strategies.
• Develop, maintain, and evolve methodologies, standards, and engineering processes supporting transition from on-premises endpoint management to cloud and SaaS-based delivery models.
• Develop new processes for upgrading, transitioning, and migrating MECM enterprise packages and workloads for use within Intune and other modern endpoint management platforms.
• Design, recommend, and develop new reporting, monitoring, and automation processes to improve visibility, performance, and sustainment of endpoint services supporting the MHS (Military Health System) mission.
• Engineer modernization solutions supporting DAR requirements, multi-purpose kiosk use cases, and user data and profile management capabilities across enterprise endpoints.
• Provide engineering and architectural support to modernize existing endpoint configuration items
• implement new cloud-managed endpoint solutions to enhance provisioning, application delivery, operating system management, and end-user experience.
• Research, design, develop, and test operating system-level software, network distribution software, and automation solutions to address complex endpoint engineering challenges.
• Formulate and analyze software requirements, set operational specifications, and apply principles of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to support endpoint modernization initiatives.
• Engineer automation, scripting, and custom code used to build, deliver, patch, and sustain applications and endpoint configurations across diverse hardware and software combinations.

Education & Experience :
• Master’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a closely related discipline or equivalent practical experience (as permitted by the contract).
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience supporting enterprise IT environments, with demonstrated work aligned to Endpoint Engineering Services.

Certifications:
• At least one: Cloud+, GICSP, SSCP, Security+, or GSEC.
• Alternate/equivalent certifications may be accepted with Government approval.
• Preferred/Work-center dependent: Microsoft Certified: Cyber Security Architect Expert or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.

Security Clearance :
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Public Trust suitability and all required system access (e.g., CAC-enabled accounts) to perform duties.

Other (Travel, Work Environment, DoD 8570 Requirements, Administrative Notes, etc.) :
• Work is primarily on-site in San Antonio, TX; limited remote work may be allowed when authorized by the Government and mission requirements permit. Work may require after-hours, weekend, and/or on-call support as directed, including support during scheduled maintenance windows, high-impact incidents, vulnerability response actions, inspections, and surge periods.
• This position is aligned to applicable DoD Manual 8140.03 work role 661 (NIST: SP-RD-001); contractor personnel must meet DoD 8570.01-M baseline certification requirements and transition to DoD Manual 8140.03 work role requirements, including required training, knowledge, skills, abilities, and tasks, within Government-directed timelines.
