Job Summary
The Electrical, Instrumentation and Automation Technician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems within the feed mill facility. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our production processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repairs:
Conduct regular maintenance on electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems to ensure optimal performance.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control system malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime.
Perform routine inspections to identify potential issues and address them proactively
Installation and Upgrades:
Assist in the installation and commissioning of new electrical, instrumentation, and automation equipment.
Collaborate with the engineering team to implement upgrades and improvements to existing systems.
Ensure all installations comply with safety standards and regulations.
Calibration and Testing:
Calibrate and test instrumentation devices to maintain accuracy and reliability.
Conduct testing and validation of automation systems to ensure proper functionality.
Document calibration and testing activities according to established procedures.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to and enforce all safety protocols and guidelines related to electrical and automation systems.
Stay informed about industry regulations and best practices to ensure compliance.
Participate in safety audits and contribute to the development of safety procedures.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the engineering team, operations technicians, and other departments to support overall feed mill objectives.
Provide technical expertise and guidance on electrical, instrumentation, and automation matters.
Collaborate with external vendors and contractors as needed.
Any other duties assigned by the Engineering Manager, Senior. Plant Technician or their designate.
Emergency Response:
Respond promptly to emergency situations and participate in troubleshooting efforts.
Implement corrective actions to address electrical or automation failures.
Contribute to the development of emergency response plans.
Qualifications:
Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
Proven experience as an Electrical, Instrumentation, and Automation Technician in an industrial setting, preferably in manufacturing, feed milling or a related industry.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and Motor Drives, VFDs, Load Cells and instrumentation devices.
Familiarity with relevant safety standards and regulations.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control diagrams.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
