About PlexTrac
PlexTrac is a cybersecurity SaaS platform helping security teams streamline reporting, exposure management, and remediation workflows. Our platform is used by penetration testers, red teams, consultants, enterprises, and managed security providers to operationalize security findings and improve collaboration across technical and executive stakeholders.
We are a remote-first company headquartered in the United States with distributed team members across North America, Europe, and Asia. We are committed to ownership, transparency, practical problem-solving, and building products that customers genuinely rely on.
Why This Role Matters
We are looking for a Distinguished Engineer to own our technical vision and shape how we build at every level of the stack. This individual contributor role will make foundational architectural decisions, help solve the hardest engineering problems we face, and directly influence the direction of the company.
Location: Remote — India only.
Responsibilities
Define and own the company-wide technical architecture across frontend, backend, APIs, and data systems
Lead the design of large-scale, distributed, and event-driven systems built to support current and future growth
Establish foundational patterns for our core stack: React/TypeScript on the frontend, Node.js on the backend, and scalable data architecture throughout
Make high-stakes architectural decisions that balance speed, scalability, and long-term maintainability
Serve as the technical authority on the most complex, high-impact challenges across the organization
Contribute directly to the codebase in critical paths, foundational systems, and high-risk areas
Drive alignment across teams on system design, engineering standards, and long-term technical direction
Define and improve practices around reliability, observability, and incident response across the platform
Evaluate and introduce technologies, cloud infrastructure (GCP), and tools that support long-term scale
Partner with leadership on technical strategy, product direction, and company-level trade-offs
Mentor senior and staff engineers and raise the quality bar through design reviews and hands-on collaboration
Qualifications
12 years of software engineering experience, including leading architecture for complex, large-scale systems
Deep, hands-on expertise across the full stack: TypeScript/React, Node.js, APIs, and data systems
Strong experience with distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and high-scale system design
Solid working knowledge of Postgres, Redis, and scalable data patterns
Experience with cloud platforms (GCP) and modern infrastructure practices
Proven track record of driving technical direction across multiple teams or an entire engineering organization
Ability to balance immediate delivery needs with long-term architectural integrity
Clear communicator who can influence engineers, executives, and non-technical stakeholders alike
Nice to Have
Background spanning platform, data, and application layers
History of shaping engineering culture or org-wide practices
Tech Stack
Full-stack technologies, languages for frontend (React/TypeScript) and backend development (Node.js), scalable databases, cloud and hosted deployment environments, enterprise security practices, and modern SaaS infrastructure.
Work Style
We operate as a remote-first, distributed team with a strong asynchronous culture. We value thoughtful communication, autonomy, and collaboration, with core working hours that partially overlap with U.S. Eastern Time.
Employees are administered through our EOR partner: Remote.
We’re committed to building an inclusive workplace where people from all backgrounds can thrive. We welcome applicants regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or background.
