POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Social Services at Freedom Behavioral Lake Charles is responsible for leading the social services department and ensuring patients receive compassionate, individualized support throughout their treatment process. This leadership role focuses on addressing patients’ emotional, social, and environmental needs while promoting quality care and positive patient outcomes.
In this role, the Director oversees social workers and case managers, coordinates psychosocial assessments, and assists in developing effective treatment and discharge plans tailored to each patient’s needs. They work closely with the interdisciplinary team to support continuity of care, connect patients and families with community resources, and advocate for patient well-being during and after treatment.
The Director of Social Services also helps ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards, maintains accurate documentation, and supports departmental operations and program development to enhance patient services and outcomes.
This position requires strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with a solid understanding of behavioral health and social service systems. The ideal candidate is compassionate, motivated, and dedicated to making a positive impact on patients, families, and staff while supporting the mission of Freedom Behavioral Lake Charles.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: Registered Nurse for at least 5 years with a minimum of 3 years of clinical psychiatric/mental health nursing care past working experience minimum, with MSN oversight.
License: RN License through the Louisiana state board of nursing
Experience: 3 years of management in mental health nursing
