About the Team The Digital Enablement team within the Finance Transformation Office (FTO) is responsible for enabling Workday Finance’s transformation strategy with scalable, intelligent, and trusted digital capabilities. This team builds and operates the platforms, automation, and AI-powered systems that enable efficiency, insight, and data-driven decision-making. The team is a cornerstone of proving how modern finance operates when powered by Workday Financials, automation, and next-generation AI. About the Role We are seeking a Director, Digital Enablement to own and scale the digital, automation, and AI capabilities that underpin the Workday Finance organization. This role will oversee the Finance automation (AI & RPA) agenda, finance insights, and select finance systems. You will have end-to-end accountability for the technical strategy, roadmap, and execution that deliver measurable gains in efficiency, data integrity, and intelligent automation. This leader will define and execute a multi-year digital enablement strategy, including consolidation of finance applications onto the Workday platform, development of enterprise automation frameworks, and deployment of agentic AI, LLM, and machine learning solutions. The Director will serve as a highly technical leader and thought partner to both Finance leadership and the Workday Product organization—driving innovation, research, and excellence in intelligent finance systems. Responsibilities: Digital & AI Strategy Leadership Define and own the end-to-end digital enablement strategy for Workday Finance, spanning AI, automation, finance applications, and insights. Create, in partnership with Finance Owners, Portfolio Management, and Business Technology, a multi-year roadmap for consolidating finance applications onto the Workday ecosystem. Establish a clear technical vision for intelligent finance systems aligned to business outcomes and transformation priorities. AI, Automation, & Intelligent Systems Own the strategy and delivery of agentic AI, RPA, LLM, and machine learning solutions across Finance. Architect scalable, secure, and resilient AI-enabled systems that solve complex finance business challenges. Oversee agent orchestration, enterprise integration, and end-to-end automation execution at scale. Engineering & Technical Excellence Provide hands-on technical leadership across AI/ML engineering, automation engineering, and finance applications teams. Drive best practices across MLOps, model deployment, monitoring, and production readiness. Ensure strong foundations in data architecture, security, governance, RAG patterns, and enterprise controls. Champion engineering excellence, code quality, and architectural rigor across all delivered solutions. Data, Insights & Decision Enablement Advise on finance data ecosystems, ensuring high data integrity, trust, and accessibility. Enable advanced analytics and insights that support executive decision-making and operational performance. Partner with Finance leaders to translate business questions into scalable data and AI solutions. Enterprise Automation Frameworks & Operating Models Build and scale enterprise-grade automation frameworks and operating models that drive efficiency and repeatability. Establish intake, prioritization, delivery, and value-tracking mechanisms for automation and AI initiatives. Deliver measurable improvements in cycle time, cost, accuracy, and scalability across Finance operations. People Leadership & Global Team Building Build, lead, and scale high-performing global teams across Finance AI, applications, and insights. Develop talent, career paths, and communities of practice for highly technical roles. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning across distributed teams. About You Required Qualifications: 15+ years of experience leading digital, automation, or AI functions in complex enterprise environments. Deep hands-on expertise in AI/ML engineering, automation platforms, and enterprise system architecture. Proven experience building and scaling global teams and enterprise automation operating models. Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field strongly preferred. Other Qualifications: A strong technical point of view on the future of intelligent finance systems. Proven success delivering measurable efficiency gains, automation outcomes, and improved data trust at scale. Deep knowledge of agentic AI, LLMs, machine learning, orchestration frameworks, and enterprise integration patterns. Expertise across MLOps, security, RAG architectures, and production-grade AI systems. The ability to translate complex finance problems into scalable, AI-driven solutions. Executive presence and credibility with both business and highly technical stakeholders. A passion for innovation, research, and applying cutting-edge technology to real-world business outcomes. The ability to position Workday Finance as a benchmark for next-generation, AI-enabled enterprise operations. Workday Pay Transparency Statement The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things.
