We are looking for a driven and result-oriented Direct Sales Team Lead – Health Insurance to lead and scale our agency-led sales operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the Agency Channel across Health Insurance (HI), Life Insurance (LI), or General Insurance (GI), with a proven ability to build, manage, and drive performance of a sales team. This role requires strong ownership of team productivity, lead generation, and business growth through direct and agency-led sales models.
Requirements:
Key Responsibilities
• Lead, manage, and motivate a team of insurance sales advisors/agents to achieve monthly and annual business targets.
• Own end-to-end responsibility for team hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.
• Drive lead generation activities through field sales, referrals, partnerships, and local market initiatives.
• Ensure consistent business generation through agency and direct sales channels.
• Monitor daily sales activities, pipeline movement, conversions, and closures.
• Coach the team on sales pitches, objection handling, product knowledge, and compliance requirements.
• Execute sales strategies aligned with company goals to increase market penetration in health insurance products.
• Maintain strong relationships with agents, customers, and internal stakeholders.
• Track sales metrics, prepare performance reports, and share insights with senior management.
• Ensure adherence to IRDAI guidelines, company policies, and ethical selling practices.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong understanding of Health Insurance products, underwriting basics, and policy structures.
• Prior experience in Agency Channel sales is mandatory (GI / LI / HI).
• Proven team-handling and leadership capabilities.
• Strong sales acumen with the ability to generate and close leads independently and through the team.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Target-driven mindset with the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Ability to train, mentor, and retain high-performing sales talent.
Required Experience & Qualifications
• 2–10 years of overall experience in insurance sales, with at least 1–3 years in a team lead or supervisory role.
• Experience in Agency Sales is compulsory.
• Graduate in any discipline; MBA or insurance-related certifications will be an added advantage.
