Akiak Technology is hiring a DevSecOps Engineer to contribute to the development and delivery of secure, scalable software systems. This position focuses on integrating security at every stage of the development pipeline to support a key federal client.
US citizenship and a T3 Secret clearance is required. This role is in Washington, DC.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS
This position will require access to classified information, and a SECRET clearance is required at the time of hire. Applicants selected will be subjected to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within the government facility, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with development and operations teams to design, implement, and maintain secure and automated infrastructure.
Integrate security controls, such as automated vulnerability scanning, static and dynamic analysis, and security testing into the CI/CD process.
Automate and orchestrate security processes, including incident response and threat detection, using technologies like Splunk, Chef Automate, and others.
Establish and ensure compliance with security standards in collaboration with cross-functional teams
Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable software applications supporting modernization of legacy systems.
Participate in Agile development sprints, contributing to planning, estimation, and daily stand-ups.
Collaborate with QA engineers to ensure unit testing, integration testing, and validation of new releases.
Support cloud-based deployments using CI/CD pipelines and containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Assist in identifying and remediating software vulnerabilities and performance bottlenecks.
Contribute to technical documentation, including system design and operational procedures.
Work under senior engineering guidance to ensure compliance with security and coding standards.
Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance code quality and maintainability.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Hands-on experience implementing DevSecOps practices in CI/CD platforms, such as Jenkins, GitLab, etc.
Experience with cybersecurity platforms, such as CrowdStrike, Zscaler, etc.
Deep understanding of cloud security.
Implement security best practices throughout the software development lifecycle, including code scanning, vulnerability assessment, and threat modeling.
Proficiency in automation, monitoring, and security integration
U.S. Citizenship required
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
5+ years experience in a full stack software engineering role. Ability to contribute front-end (React), Serverless Cloud Native (AWS, Azure), Data integrations and ETL pipeline development, and SQL
Proven experience working on large-scale system modernization or digital transformation efforts.
Expertise in software architecture, system design, and modernization of legacy platforms.
Deep technical knowledge of cloud-native development, microservices, and container orchestration.
Proficiency with API development, integration, and data exchange architectures.
Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools.
Candidate must possess an Active Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with licensing, enforcement, or compliance systems in a national security or regulatory context.
Experience in data modeling, system integration planning, or enterprise architecture alignment.
Palantir Foundry experience
Teleworking: The company has a hybrid remote policy for all employees and is dependent upon the type of position. This position may be assigned to support a federal contract, or to work in office. The Company’s teleworking eligibility may not apply if the employee is supporting a federal services contract. In this instance, the employee may be subject to federal telework policies and may be required to work onsite in the federal facility when requested.
