The Opportunity: Building the Foundation for Social Good

At Neon One, we are on a transformative journey to scale our SaaS platform, enabling non-profits to operate more effectively and increase their social impact. We're looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team to build and mature the cloud backbone that will power our next generation of products, ensure bulletproof reliability, and accelerate innovation for the non-profits we serve. As a DevOps Engineer, you will be a core contributor to the Platform Engineering team, ensuring our applications are delivered securely, reliably, and efficiently. You will help build and maintain our cloud operations, work within a robust framework for automation and observability, and help build a world-class platform. Your work will directly empower our product engineering teams to ship features faster and with greater confidence, and your skills will be instrumental in scaling our infrastructure to meet the future needs of the social good sector. What You'll Do

• Infrastructure Implementation & Management: You will design and implement resilient cloud architectures using Infrastructure as Code (IaC). You will be responsible for writing and maintaining Terraform to manage resources, including AWS Lambdas, ECS, Aurora and RDS, and advanced networking

• CI/CD Pipeline Optimization: Build, maintain, and optimize the continuous integration and deployment pipelines that serve as the freeway for our engineering teams. You will work with GitHub Actions to ensure every deployment is automated, safe, and repeatable, reducing lead time for changes

• System Reliability: You will serve as a guardian of system health by monitoring Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and utilizing our observability stack (CloudWatch and NewRelic). You will participate in an on-call rotation (including evenings and weekends as needed) to manage incident response and ensure the overall well-being of Neon One applications

• Security & Access Control: Administrate cloud hosting accounts, VPN connections, and manage access controls. You will integrate security best practices (IAM, RBAC, network security, vulnerability management) into the infrastructure lifecycle and execute technical requirements for compliance initiatives (SOC2 and PCI-DSS)

• AI Infrastructure Support: Partner with the Engineering and Data Teams to provision and secure the AWS infrastructure required for AI and machine learning workloads, including services like AWS SageMaker and Bedrock

• Technical Documentation: You will create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including infrastructure diagrams and runbooks, ensuring the wider engineering organization has a clear "single source of truth" for operations

• Collaborate and Empower: Partner closely with engineering, product, security, and internal operations stakeholders to understand their needs and provide them with the platform and tools required for success serving as a technical advisor

What You'll Bring

• 2–3 years of hands-on experience in DevOps and Cloud Infrastructure in AWS, with a consistent record of successfully scoping and releasing upgrades to infrastructure

• Proven experience architecting and managing solutions in AWS (Associate or Professional-level certification is a strong plus)

• Proficiency with IaC tools; specific experience with Terraform or CloudFormation is required

• Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines, specifically with GitHub Actions

• Strong scripting skills to automate repetitive tasks and improve developer experience

• A proven ability to highlight inefficiencies in existing infrastructure and implement measurable improvements

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively as a self-starter within a distributed engineering team

Nice to Haves

• Familiarity with one or more of the application stacks used at Neon One (JavaScript/TypeScript, PHP, Java, .NET)

• Experience managing container orchestration platforms

• Direct, hands-on experience with the technical implementation of compliance frameworks like SOC2 and PCI-DSS

• Familiarity with MLOps principles and tools

• Familiarity with New Relic or similar observability tools

• Prior experience working with or a passion for the non-profit sector
