Let's start with the role

We are looking for an experienced MongoDB Database Administrator with a deep understanding of MongoDB Atlas and Ops Manager. This role focuses on optimizing, securing, and scaling our MongoDB environments to ensure high availability and performance. We are seeking a professional with hands-on experience in tuning MongoDB solutions and implementing robust backup and recovery processes.

As a Database Administrator, you will:

• Manage and maintain multiple database servers across various environments using Atlas and Ops Manager, ensuring consistent availability and performance.

• Design and implement redundancy and failover strategies.

• Monitor database performance, tune and identify areas for improvement.

• Configure and maintain replica sets and sharded clusters to support scalability and resilience.

• Define and implement backup strategies aligned with data retention requirements.

• Optimize queries and indexing strategies.

• Enforce best practices for data security, including user access control, data encryption and compliance with regulatory standards.

• Diagnose and resolve production issues as needed, including 24/7 support.

• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

• Develop and document best practices for maintenance, monitoring, migration, and failover strategies.

• Use automation tools to streamline database management processes.

What you’ll bring:

• Minimum 3+ years of experience working with large distributed database systems, with focus on performance and tuning.

• Proven experience with MongoDB scaling across data centers and/or in-depth understanding of MongoDB HA strategies, including replica sets and sharding.

• Strong operational experience with NoSQL Data Modeling.

• Deep knowledge of DB performance/scaling concepts and tuning best practices.

• Ability to write and maintain Unix/Linux shell scripts would be considered an advantage.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.

• Highly self-motivated with a strong desire to embrace new database technologies, and able to work independently or as part of a team in a high-demand, dynamic environment.

• Strong team player with excellent written and verbal skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment with a broad scope of responsibilities.

• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset, comfortable with working across functional teams.

It’s a plus if you bring:

• Experience with RSBMS systems ( MSSQL, PostgreSQL ) will be considered a plus.
