Job Description
Your mission:
About the team
We’re a fast-moving engineering team building and running analytics platforms for investment funds. Our systems combine enterprise-grade SQL Server infrastructure with modern automation and container technologies. We work like a startup: creative, pragmatic, and allergic to bureaucracy. If something breaks, we fix it — and often improve it along the way.
The Role
We’re looking for a Database Administrator who’s more of an engineer than a button-clicker. Someone who enjoys figuring things out, automating repetitive work, and solving problems that don’t have a ready-made vendor answer.
You’ll manage and optimize SQL databases (mostly Microsoft SQL Server, some ClickHouse, maybe some PostgreSQL), automate deployment and configuration, and collaborate with developers and DevOps engineers to keep the data layer stable, secure, and fast. Your tasks:
• Administer and tune SQL Server databases (on Windows and Linux/OpenShift)
• Design and maintain automation workflows using SaltStack
• Develop monitoring, alerting, and reporting scripts (Python or similar)
• Troubleshoot performance, security, and integration issues across environments
• Work with containerized SQL workloads inside OpenShift
• Participate in schema design, migration, and capacity planning
• Contribute to internal tools and open-source integrations
Your profile:
• University degree in Computer Science, natural sciences, or related field
• Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration (2019/2022 preferred)
• Comfortable with Windows Server and Linux environments
• Familiar with containers and orchestration platforms (OpenShift, Kubernetes)
• Scripting or programming skills (Python, PowerShell, Go, or similar)
• Practical understanding of automation and infrastructure-as-code (SaltStack, Ansible, etc.)
• Curiosity, creativity, and willingness to dig deep until things make sense
• Fluent English for technical communication (German is a plus, not required)
Our offer:
• Exciting challenges and excellent development opportunities in a constantly growing, international team
• Freedom to develop own ideas and thus make an active contribution to the success of our company
• Attractive remuneration with variable components as part of a total compensation system
• Great colleagues, a friendly working atmosphere and numerous employee events
• Modern workplace in the heart of Munich with view of the Theresienwiese
• Modern employee benefits - bike leasing, meal vouchers, BAV, Deutschlandticket, benefits account & Wellpass Fitness
• Hybrid working model
• Free drinks and fruit as well as a well-filled ice box in summer
