Cloud Engineering Intern

Who will you be working with?

You will be joining the Engineering team focused on cloud infrastructure and platform services. This team is responsible for building scalable, reliable, and secure cloud-based environments to support Wabtec’s digital solutions and innovation roadmap. You’ll work closely with experienced cloud engineers and software developers.

How will you make a difference?

As a Cloud Engineering Intern, you will support the deployment, configuration, and monitoring of cloud infrastructure and services across Wabtec’s cloud platforms. This role provides a hands-on learning opportunity while contributing to real-world projects. Your work will help accelerate the adoption of cloud-native technologies and the development of modern infrastructure solutions. We are seeking a motivated Intern to join our Digital Advanced Technology Cloud Innovation Team (DATCI). This intern will support the design, development, testing, and documentation of cloud-based products and solutions. The team builds products using AWS cloud services and modern engineering tools including Python, Go, Windows, Linux, simulation testing, and Terraform modules. This is a strong opportunity for a student or early-career technologist who wants hands-on exposure to cloud engineering, solution design, automation, infrastructure as code, and simulation-based product testing in a real-world engineering environment.

What do we want to know about you?

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field 
• Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts
• Exposure to or interest in AWS services
• Familiarity with at least one scripting or programming language, such as Python or Go
• Basic understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems
• Interest in automation, infrastructure as code, and cloud-based product development
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills 
• Willingness to learn in a fast-paced engineering environment
• Advanced English or fluent

What will your typical day look like?

• Assist the team in designing and developing cloud-based solutions and products hosted in AWS
• Support the creation and maintenance of Terraform modules for infrastructure provisioning and automation 
• Write and update scripts and tools using Python or Go
• Help test and validate applications and services in both Windows and Linux environments 
• Participate in simulation testing activities to help verify product functionality, performance, and reliability 
• Assist with troubleshooting infrastructure, application, and deployment issues in development and test environments 
• Help document architecture diagrams, workflows, technical processes, and standard operating procedures 
• Support the team with cloud environment setup, configuration, and validation tasks 
• Collaborate with engineers, developers, and architects on solution design and technical problem-solving 
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts for automation, testing, and deployment processes
