Position Details

· Title: Business Development Manager (BDM)

· Type: 1099 Contract

· Location: 100% Remote

· Hours: 20-30 hours per week

· Compensation: $40-$50 per hour (based on experience); possible incentive structure TBD

· Experience Level: 4-6 years preferred

· Reports To: Director of Sales

Position Overview

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving new business growth by actively prospecting, engaging, and qualifying prospective clients while also leading and developing a small team of Business Development Representatives (BDRs). This is a hands-on, player-coach role in which the BDM is expected to personally generate a meaningful portion of the pipeline while setting the standard for outreach activity, messaging, and performance.

This role partners closely with executive leadership and cross-functional leaders across the organization to inform and shape overall company strategy, ensuring business development efforts are aligned with broader organizational goals. The BDM will provide frontline market insights, contribute to go-to-market planning, and collaborate with leaders in sales, marketing, and operations to drive sustainable growth.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, results-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads by example, and is equally comfortable executing daily outreach and influencing broader growth strategy.

Core Responsibilities

Hands-On Prospecting & Pipeline Generation Own and execute a significant portion of outbound prospecting efforts, including cold calling, email campaigns, and LinkedIn outreach. Consistently meet or exceed individual activity and pipeline generation targets.

Team Leadership & Coaching

Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of BDRs by providing real-time coaching, call reviews, messaging guidance, and performance feedback. Lead by example through direct prospecting activity and results.

Outbound Strategy Execution

Implement and refine outbound strategies using HubSpot CRM and automation tools. Continuously test and improve messaging, sequences, and targeting to increase engagement and conversion rates.

Lead Generation & Qualification Actively research and qualify ideal customer profiles (ICPs), identify client needs, align solutions, and navigate decision-making structures to build and advance a strong pipeline.

Pipeline Development & Oversight

Maintain ownership of both individual and team pipeline performance. Monitor activity levels, conversion metrics, and pipeline health to ensure consistent opportunity flow.

Sales Collaboration & Deal Advancement

Partner closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and sales leadership to transition qualified opportunities, support scoping discussions, and help advance deals toward close.

Relationship Management

Build and maintain relationships with prospective clients and key industry stakeholders, particularly on high-value opportunities.

CRM Management & Reporting

Maintain accurate records of all outreach and pipeline activity within HubSpot. Track personal and team performance against KPIs and provide regular reporting to leadership.

Market Intelligence

Stay informed on industry trends, competitive activity, and new construction developments; apply insights to improve targeting and outreach effectiveness.

Networking & Brand Representation

Actively participate in industry events, trade shows, and association meetings to generate leads and expand the company’s presence in the market.

Strategic & Leadership Responsibilities

Player-Coach Leadership Set the standard for activity, messaging, and professionalism by consistently performing at a high level individually while elevating team performance.

Process Improvement

Identify and implement improvements to prospecting workflows, tools, and outreach strategies to drive efficiency and scalability.

Go-to-Market Contribution

Collaborate with executive leadership to refine target markets, value propositions, and outreach strategies based on frontline insights.

Hiring & Team Development

Support recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding of new BDRs as the team grows.

Performance Management Drive accountability through clear KPIs, consistent coaching, and performance tracking for both individual and team success.

Qualifications

Required Experience

· Minimum 1-3 years of previous experience in a Business Development Representative (BDR) role

· Experience in the construction industry and familiarity with common roles, personas, decision-makers, and various associated trade partners

· AI and prompt usage/fluency toward quickly self-actualizing to specifics of the industry, Level Workforce background and GTM offerings and strategy, and the various outreach/messaging activities of the BDR role and/or team lead

· Experience with proper internal team relationship build/nourishing for qualified deal/opportunity hand-off to SME and/or sales executive, at correct point(s) of escalation, for sales cycle completion

· Experience with pipeline build activities across 2-4 different business units with varying qualifying/selling messaging and motions

· Experience using CRM platforms, along with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint).

· HubSpot experience required

Hands-On Sales Ability Proven track record of disciplined prospecting cadence execution yielding qualified sales leads/opportunities, along with meeting daily/weekly KPI’s (company contacts qualified/targeted, calls, emails, LinkedIn connections, and prospects enrolled in sequence)

Leadership Skills

· Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and influence others while maintaining personal production.

· Previous experience managing/building a team required.

Communication Skills Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage and influence decision-makers.

Work Ethic & Drive Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, long sales-cycle environment
