The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated Business Development Manager to join our growth team. This is a pure new-business, outbound-led role focused on identifying, engaging and converting new customers for your event. You will be responsible for opening doors, running commercial conversations with senior decision-makers, and closing new revenue.
If you thrive on prospecting, qualifying and leading sharp, outcome-focused sales discussions, this is the kind of role where you will be in your element.
In this role, you will:
Generate your own new-business opportunities through outbound activity (cold calling, email, virtual and in-person meetings, and networking)
Build, qualify and manage your own pipeline from first contact through to close
Own and deliver against your personal revenue target
Work with clients to develop tailored sponsorship and exhibition packages to suit their objectives
Use Salesforce to accurately manage accounts, activity and pipeline, and maintain a clean, up-to-date database of prospects and clients
Travel interstate from time to time for in-person meetings and industry events
Be onsite at your event to build client relationships and secure repeat and renewal business
About you
Experience in B2B selling environment
Solid understanding of sales strategies and selling process
Strong cold calling and written communication skills
Ability to research and “hunt” for new prospects using social media tools
Fearless, not intimidated communicating with top executives
Know-how, drive, and passion for developing new business
Ability to work independently and take constructive feedback
Smart and a quick learner who is comfortable in a fast-paced, high growth, entrepreneurial environment
