The team

Join our Custody team and have the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing transformation of the digital assets industry at Kraken. Our team plays a crucial role in identifying problems in the industry and delivering novel solutions.

As a member of the Custody team, you will have the chance to collaborate with highly skilled Rust Engineers, cryptographers, hardware aficionados, and on-chain experts from around the world. We are enthusiastic about the highest security custody environments and efficiency of signing with the major cryptographic curves. Our collaborative work environment allows us to stay ahead in the ever-changing crypto landscape. By joining our team, you will have the opportunity to contribute towards shaping the future of Kraken Custody’s security. This is a fully remote role.

The opportunity

• Integrate our existing systems with exciting new blockchains

• Design and implement low-latency, high-availability, secure applications and data protection systems

• Work on specialized hardware (HSMs) integrations

• Build highly scalable, high volume services

• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code

• Own, develop and maintain existing crypto services

Skills you should HODL

• 5 to 10 years of experience as a backend developer

• Proficiency in Rust, or C++, Go

• Experience with Blockchain daemons such as Bitcoind, Litecoind, or other crypto software

• Strong foundation incryptographic concepts

• Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and GNU/Linux

• Understanding the nature of asynchronous programming and its quirks and workarounds

• Hands-on experience with distributed systems and messaging platforms such as Kafka

• Familiarity with authentication, authorization, and security compliance

• Knowledge of scalable application design principles

Nice to haves

• Senior leadership experience with mentoring abilities

• Proficiency with embedded systems

• Experience implementing algorithms in constrained environments

• Hands-on knowledge of custodial cryptographic techniques

• Proven track record in leading secure crypto service development
