Job Description
T. Musselman Excavating is looking for a full-time Automotive Service Technician to join our team. This position will be based out of our truck and equipment shop located in Petersburg, ON. The position is available immediately and will be full-time, year-round work with some flexibility in scheduling.
Salary: $34-$44/hr, dependent on experience
Benefits: Available after probationary period, RRSP matching available in 1 year
Duties & Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair mechanical issues in a wide range of company vehicles and equipment, including light- and medium-duty trucks, trailers, and some small engine equipment.
Perform scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance such as oil and filter changes, fluid level checks, tire inspections and rotations, and general system inspections to minimize downtime.
Conduct regular vehicle inspections to identify potential problems and recommend necessary repairs.
Maintain accurate records of all work performed and parts used, including time spent, complaints, causes, corrections, and recommended future maintenance.
Work safely and efficiently with minimal supervision.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding vehicle maintenance schedules, repairs, and any issues encountered.
Complete work orders, maintenance logs, part orders, and inspection reports to support documentation, compliance, and internal tracking.
Collaborate closely with Parts and Service Coordinators to ensure timely availability of parts, support maintenance schedules, and coordinate repairs efficiently.
Work independently with minimal supervision.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are used and stored properly, and all safety protocols are followed.
Collaborate with other mechanics, apprentices, and shop helpers to prioritize work, reduce equipment downtime, and support efficient shop operations.
Perform other duties as required.
Desired Skills & Experience
310S Automotive Service Technician License (Ontario)
Minimum 2-5 years of experience repairing and maintaining a variety of light- and mid-weight vehicles and small equipment
Strong diagnostic skills with electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
Proficient in using diagnostic tools and repair software.
Ability to work independently and take direction with minimal supervision.
Proficiency in welding and fabrication is an asset.
Valid Ontario’s driver’s license.
