Automation Engineer

As an Automation Engineer on the Developer Experience (DevEx) team, you’ll eliminate manual work, unlock repeatable workflows, and accelerate how engineering teams build and operate.

You’ll partner closely with Platform, SRE, FinOps, and product engineering teams to automate manual processes, optimize existing tooling, and deliver scalable “golden path” solutions that other teams can easily adopt. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys scripting, building internal tooling, and systematically removing friction from complex technical workflows.

This role offers flexibility and can be based remotely in Europe with a remote setup, or in our headquarters in Budapest Hungary,, including occasional travel to our other offices.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Identify manual, repetitive, and error-prone processes across engineering teams

• Design and implement automation to eliminate operational toil

• Support the implementation of security and compliance automation (e.g., policy as code, guardrails, automated checks in CI/CD pipelines) to support security initiatives

• Build internal services, tools and scripts that improve developer productivity

• Create and maintain “golden path” workflows for provisioning, deployments, CI/CD, and environment setup

• Design and optimize GitHub Actions pipelines and CI/CD automation, including GitOps workflows (ArgoCD) for Kubernetes

• Collaborate with Platform and SRE teams on infrastructure automation initiatives

• Work with FinOps to automate cost visibility, reporting, and optimization workflows where relevant

• Support teams in adopting standardized automation frameworks

• Document solutions clearly to enable self-service adoption

• Measure and continuously improve the impact of automation initiatives

WHAT YOU’ll BRING:

• 5+ years of experience in automation, DevOps, Platform, or infrastructure engineering roles

• Strong scripting and coding skills (like Bash, Node.js, Python)

• Proven experience building automation tools or internal engineering tooling

• Hands-on experience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD systems

• Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform preferred)

• Solid cloud experience: IAM, networking, compute, managed services (AWS preferred)

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS experience preferred)

• Strong problem-solving mindset with a bias toward simplification and scalability

• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and agents (e.g., Claude, LLM-based coding assistants) to accelerate automation, prototyping, and internal tooling development

(AMAZING IF YOU ALSO HAVE):

• Experience with data pipelines or workflow orchestration

• Familiarity with observability tooling and monitoring systems

• Exposure to high-scale cloud environments

• Understanding of DevOps, SRE, and Platform Engineering principles
